I have searched all the messages but can't find exactly what I am looking for. What vallejo color would you recommend for the helmet and ESPECIALLY the tunic and trousers in this photo? picture |

I would go with the WW2 colours as the (theoretical) colours were the same from about 1930 to the introduction of camouflage uniforms in the late 1980s / 1990s. Helmet Dark Green – Vallejo Russian Green 70.894 Uniform Khaki Green – Vallejo Russian Uniform 70.924 Mick |

I would agree with the above colors but also highlight the Uniform with Vallejo Green Brown 879. Ed G. |

So if I go for the "Word in Conflict" 1989 assault they should be camouflage? |

No unless they are VDV, scouts or engineers the "Schofield" pattern was trialed 88-90 but didn't get to many units until mid 90s. |

Yeahhh. The WIC: Soviet Assault trailer portrays all the Soviet troops in camoflauge, all though it looks like a lot of the soldiers are wearing one piece uniforms. BUT in their defense, they are presenting an alternate timeline where the Soviets, faced with collapse, decide to launch an all out attack on the West instead. |

I don't use much Vallejo myself. I would use Floquil's Rail Brown for the uni and a flat gray green for the steel pot. Count NAtokina. |

link For one piece camouflage uniforms I would paint the KMLK pattern. This seems have been the most common, having been introduced in 1968. If you are going with the standard Russian uniform, personally I would use Tamiya XF5 for the helmet ( it's a good medium green) and I would use Vallejo 880 (khaki Grey)for the uniform if the figures are in 1/100 or 15mm scale. Sorry, just saw that this is an old thread. |
