Hi Generals, I have a lot of Front Rank War of the Roses figures, but
I am tempted to try the new plastics by the Perry Bros. Will they mix? Anyone with a comparison pic. Opinions please.
Cheers

I haven't seen any comparison pictures, but from what I have seen the Front Rank figures look quite a bit bulkier in their style. |

Yes, Front Rank are about a head taller and much larger in girth. |

Both nice, but in my view totally incompatible. FR are typical of the brand, quite chunky. Perry figures are typical of its brand, quite slim. Its one or the other. I have collected both. The FR range is extensive and well developed. The detail on the Gothic armour is excellent. The poses are less natural however than Perry's. Perry's figures are of course, mostly going to be plastic. However they are beautifully sculpted and provide numerous opportunities to customize. |

So here's another question: Which ranges mix well with the Perry plastic HYW figures? Crusader? Old Glory? I'm to build two HYW armies for Impetus and will need a few cavalry, handgunners, and crossbowmen to complete the armies. Matt Beauchamp Hydra Miniatures hydraminiatures.com |

Which ranges mix well with the Perry plastic HYW figures? None. Perries only make HYW in metal. |

Sorry
I meant " what companies make metal figures that mix with the Perry plastic War of the Roses figures?" _matt |

Crusader medieval figures might work (ex Corvus Belli?)slimmer than the usual Crusader style. |

Crusader medieval figures might work (ex Corvus Belli?)slimmer than the usual Crusader style. I have the infantry and they should make for quite a good match for the Perry figs (though they might be slightly slimmer than even the Perries). However, the cavalrymen are quite large compared to the infantry. Best method would be of course to wait until Perries release their second plastic box – with crossbows, handguns and pikes – later this year. |

not yet compared but I think Plastic WOR Perry are very close to Venexia Condottieri range. |

Also the old Grenadier Fighting Men (sculpted by Mark Copplestone, nowadays available from Mirliton) should be pretty close – I will need to do a bit of comparison at some point. |

>>>Both nice, but in my view totally incompatible.<<< Beyond the (quite definitely) well-fed, "gnomish" look of FR, the headgear are very noticeably incompatible (larger) when compared with with Perry. FR do a very commendable detail job with their armour (HYW & WoR), but compatible _only_ with themselves. >>>Crusader medieval figures might work (ex Corvus Belli?) slimmer than the usual Crusader style.<<< They are the ex Corvus Belli figures, I think their body type would be compatible with Perry but not sure about height. |

I would say use any figures that you like that are vaguely similar. Have you looked at a crowd of random people? Even a crowd of random men. There is a massive difference in height and build. Using different manufacturers figures merely reflects that difference. As for kit – in this era EVERYTHING was a handmade one off. Stuff therefore varied in size. No worries

Crusader/Corvus Belli should be ok for foot, but horses are pretty tall. |
