Nice

Those are stunning figures. A decent book on the subject is Ernle Bradford's The Siege of Malta. I read this while holidaying on the island and toured some of the battle sites. Setting religious sensitivities aside, the Christians put up an tremendously brave fight.

I agree. Stunning.

Yes, I really enjoyed Bradford's book. You'd have to think there's a movie in those pages!

Keraunos09 Feb 2010 4:56 a.m. PST

many movies nooted – but never by anyone I would be excited about filming – last one I think was Guy Ritchie (argh).

And for the last decade, the subject has becomes mired in a lot of 'reflecting current east-west tensions' crap.

however,

Tom Willocks has a bloody good novel / page turner on the siege, called 'the religion'.

just don't bother with the blurb.

and the chapters in Cowley's 'empires of the sea' is good too

blucher09 Feb 2010 6:19 a.m. PST

those figures are lovely I want some…

Keraunos you must like these too!

Griefbringer09 Feb 2010 7:55 a.m. PST

Brilliant looking figures. Would work fine also at least for the Spanish in Netherlands.

dandiggler09 Feb 2010 10:54 a.m. PST

Wow, VERY nice minis.

Hicksey strikes again.

Top work, as per. Very interesting (and tempting) subject matter.

A friend recently loaned me Empires of the Sea, which covers the Siege. I was FLOORED!

What an incredible era in history that I had no prior knowledge of.

These minis will be hard to resist.

Gorgeous figures. I can't tell if they are available yet. If so, then I'll certainly pick some (many) up. I assume they are 28mm.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER10 Feb 2010 5:31 p.m. PST

Very top notch. My Kts. of St. John do not look anywhere near that good.

I further the comments as excellent figures. Interestingly wonder if the idea of bespoke figure production will work out financially. I certainly hope so and will aim to buy some when available.

Looking ahead I feel there is a gap for a really good Horse Arquebusier figure in a firing pose in 25/8 mm?

Dang it! Another period to tempt me. When will it end!?

Now here is something that will tickle John, brain, The new company plans on doing Albanians (that's stradiots!!!)

looking forward to them becoming commercially available! Albanian foot would be a marvellous addition. There are plenty of Stradiots out there already.

By the way The Religion' by Tim Willocks is a GREAT read. I have just finished it a second time. Totally fiction, yet totally real. It contains some of the best descriptions of close quarters combat ever written. The sheer work involved made me tired just reading!
