First, let me say what I play now. Basically, DBA. I like it but it's kinda like fast food. I'm not a fan of DBM, too fussy and it's all about the flanks. I play some Armati but the bows are too powerful. I like a game that finishes in two hours or so. I rather like Basic Impetus but one of my gaming buddies can't stand the dicey aspects. Sigh. I've played WRG back in the day, 5th edition or so but don't want to go with Warrior – too complex and slow. Knowing all this, should I get a copy of Knight Hack? And maybe the other Hacks too? Talk to me, guys. |

If you want to keep it simplistic but a little more that DBA, try Days of Knights, it's a good game. Allen |

Knight Hack is a very good choice. It plays quickly, and using individual reference sheets for each army gives a lot of chrome without forcing you to remember specific rules. All the Hack-series are well done. Check out the Yahoo egroup for details. Cheers, gregoryk

I agree about Days of Knight. Good set of rules. I also like Flower of Chivalry. Solid set that has some twists without being complicated. Plus lots of scenarios in the book. I'm doing the Scottish Wars of Independence in 1/72 with them. Thanks, John |

You might want to take a look at Field of Glory. Not the most original rules out there but a lot of good ideas in a coherant package. William |

"You might want to take a look at Field of Glory." Not if he wants a two hour game. |

He can do a two hour game with 600pts, we do it all the time both with experinced and novice gamers. William |

I haven't played Knight Hack but I've played his ancient rules. they were fun and once you got onto the mechanics they banged along pretty quick. |

Thankfully Scott, alot of folks here are happy to hear about other sets of rules that may be applicable to what they are looking for. He's playing DBA and likes Impetus. Both Days of Knights and Flower of Chivalry may be of interest to him. If not it may be attractive to someone else who is also looking. Happily we don't have thread police here. Thanks, John |

No, but the spelling police are watching it *very* closely. |

To be fair, the original poster said Basically, DBA. I like it but it's kinda like fast food. I'm not a fan of DBM, too fussy and it's all about the flanks. I play some Armati but the bows are too powerful

I've played WRG back in the day, 5th edition or so but don't want to go with Warrior – too complex and slow. All those comments mapped and triangulated point you in the vicinity of FOG. Maybe even the 2 hour target works – a small FOG game with two good players who mean business can reach a conclusion in 2 hours, but I like more points and a relaxing pace with time to enjoy the game, which may include appropriate skirmishing tactics and evasive manoeuvres that take time. |

I apologize if my post was offensive in any way. I suppose that I was just a bit cranky, having clicked on the thread hoping to actually read some thoughts and opinions on KH, rather than yet another round of endorsements for a variety of different rule sets. This being TMP, you would think that I would know better by now! Cheers, Scott |
