well, the topic says it all. I want quality over low price, as I don´t need too many miniatures

Splintered Light
Feudal (I carry a lot of Scots, Irish and Welsh in stock)
Old Glory has a very large range from a lot of different regions. Quatermaster has koreans which can be in the time period as well.

ghostdog,
What part of the Dark Ages are you interested in?

For early Dark Ages Britain I will also back Splintered Light along with Outpost Wargames which has compatible figures. Splintered Light is also working on Picts.

For the Viking era Khurasan makes great Vikings, Saxons, and Normans. Old Glory also has nice figures for these armies plus Carolingians and Irish

Khurasan also have nice new Byzantines and various Muslim and Turkic armies.

You are very spoiled for choice.

Splintered Light are really nice. I have Essex and Feudal Castings also, and cannot complain about either of them.

I agree with Dropship Horizon. Splintered Light could also morph some of its Early Saxons into Vikings--I keep awaiting their next releases!

David told me this afternoon that the Picts are partly done and hopefully the whole line will be available at Cold Wars.

How compatible are Splintered Light with other ranges--are they 18mm-ish or 15mm-ish? Someone mentions compatibility with Outpost, but would OG 15mm go well with them as well?

The Splintered Light figures stand 17mm, which is compatible with OG 15's, Corvus Belli, and some Essex figures.
