Seeing the new 15mm tiles from Litko got me thinking about doing some Space Hulk-style gaming.

Are there any rule sets for this that have a force creation system, or has anyone worked this out for Space Hulk?

Thanks
CB

Gun Crawl?

First edition Space Hulk tended to have some sort of a force creation system somewhere in the supplements.

Incursion has it, sort of at least you can build your force from existing units, you can DL the rules for free.

You could use Fast and Dirty 4 or Combat Zone. FAD4 is a free download, while CZ is fairly inexpensive.

1st Ed Space Hulk defintely had a points based force creation system published in White Dwarf and the supplements.

5150 from Two Hour Wargames would work for that. link

Gun Crawl is exactly what you describe.

Incursion is my new favourite game….I thought of it as a poor-man's Space Hulk until I played it….similar mechanics to SH, but much better….the cards add a whole other dimension to the game experience and the germans feel like a proper side, rather than just a brainless wave of stealers…..

Legions of Steel!

Looks like it will be Gun Crawl, since I was going to send Ebbles some of my money anyway, although I never thought of using Combat Zone. Could work, although I really want something specifically designed for close quarters/inside a ship or cavern.

For anyone who has played Gun Crawl, how is it, and how smoothly does it run with more than 2 players. Strictly d6, or something else?

Thanks again.

Legions of Steel, but it's long OOP.

Warlord had some Legion of Steel stuff for sale a while back, you might check with him about it.

I believe the Space Hulk Campaigns book had the force creation rules.

Going from memory:
The way it worked was it listed various characters like Inquisitors, Captains, and Chaplains, and squads like standard Terminators, close assault Terminators, a scout section of two Terminators, etc. Some selections had options for upgrades. Each selection was worth a certain number of points. After selecting a mission, the players each secretly bid a number of points, and the LOW bidder gets to be the Marines.

The beauty of this system is that the competitive bidding encourages the players to try to beat the missions with as few Marines as possible. And, you don't have to change the number or type of blips, because the bidding self-regulates how many Marines there are.

You could also use the force lists for Loyalists versus Traitor Terminators.

Another vote for Combat Zone. It's action point based and has opportunity fire.

I'm going to be using Savage Worlds, but my Hulk crawls are gonna have a strong RPG flavor.

The Incursion cards dont seem to be included as a download in English…

There is a really good set of rules on one of the free rules sites. I think it is called 'Space Hive'. It's very similar to Space Hulk, but playable on any square grid map with a full force creation systems. As good as, if not better than a lot of rules you will pay for.

Joe5mc, that is exactly what I was looking for. Space Hive it is then.

we played a 2000ad city block clearance game using combat zone and it worked really well on a square citi-block grid.Similar lay out to clearing/exploring a ship so may work.
As it uses centimeters (cm) it is a good transfer to spacehulk tiles. The points are already in the game just rename the weapons and get flame rules from the free battle book.

Glad to help. I remember finding it and also thinking – this is exactly what I was looking for.
