Can you, experienced kind players, point me to some US sources of 1:285-1:300 Miniatures? (I found several UK sources, but they have hideous postal rates--one even had a minimum of 20GBP postage!)

For this scale, what hex size to you recommend for Bag the Hun? What size hexes do you recommend if I choose to use my Wing of War WWII models (on smaller bases of course)?

How big are the games in Bag the Hun? I'd like to do Battle of Britain games. Do I need squadrons of Hurricanes, Spits, and 109's, etc. or are the games smaller involving a handful of planes?

Any insight would be helpful as I would like to get some stuff ordered ASAP.

Thanks.

Check out I-94Enterprises.com for Scotia, Raiden and a couple of other firms. They also have a wide selection of decals in 1/300. Dave is a great guy to work with and really gives outstanding service.

The TwoFatLardies Yahoo group's message archive will have a number of threads about hex size and scenario size for Bag the Hun. IIRC 1.5" is a common hex size (I still have an old 1" hex map I use, to be replaced by 1.5" eventually).

The general consensus is that with experience fairly large battles can be held, particularly if one side is a bomber force with escorts. There is a Battle of Britain campaign book, which may help with your questions as well.

For what it's worth, I do my WWII+ air wargaming in 1/600, there are a couple of good ranges available (Tumbling Dice and Oddzial Osmy (O8)).

As boy wundyr x mentioned the TFL group would be a great place to ask. Robert

xrays im a newbie to bth as well and ive asked some of these questions just recently check my bag the hun sprog thread..

ive decided to go 1/600 with a handful of raidens for smaller fighter only but the raidens lookso nice I might get a small buch for fighter only games

im going to compromise and fudge 1/285 with 2inch hexes based on the wingtip to wingtip measures for 1/285 he111 people have provided in various places in recent threads.. im thinking of doing Algernon pulls it off in 1/144 but thats down the track.

falcon miniatures(us)do a lovely looking he111 and boulton paul defiants in 1/300 but ive had zero luck getting a reply either via there web form or the yahoo address on their manufacturer entry on TMP..

the guys here are in WW2 aviation are bloody helpful, so ask away.. its far and away the warmest welcome ive had anywhere in a long time.

I'm going to eventually build 2 vics of hurricane 2 of spits and one of defiants if falcon ever get back to me..
for Luftwaffe 2 schwarm of 109s 2 of bf110 and some he111 and the ju87 from Raidens when its released.

in 1/600 ive gone for mass and have on my table a full squadron each of spits, hurricane and blenheims with luftwaffe forces to match.

bth is all about formation flying so I size forces in terms f vics/schwarms and multiples of those.

I've gotten all my stuff from domsdecals.com except for squadron codes which I got from I-94 enterprises -doms around the forums and he's generous with knowledge and support. (my eyesight is terrible but I wish smeone would do combined roundels/squadron codes for commonwaelth 1/600)

it sounds like youre in the states and I i-94 also sell raidens they were prompt responding to email.

the first plastic model I ever painted up when I was a kid was an airfix Boulton paul defiant so ive got a bit of a soft spot for it.

when sizing forces I took the toofatlardies battle of britain campaign game as a guide, it well worth the money only a few quid.

Dom also has very good shipping and handling rates for his products, I'm in Canada and it's the same to get from Dom as it is from the states (plus I pay the exchange rate only once).

Thanks all. I did get the Battle of Britain supplement for Bag the Hun, Finest Hour. I read through it this morning and, besides providing a good feel for the size of BoB scenarios, it's got me stoked about doing at least part of the campaign. Anyhow, I think that between GHQ and CinC I should be able to cover the BoB pretty well. Thanks again.
