Painting some DAK engineers for a friend, I find they are carrying all kinds of weird stuff. 1) It looks like a small hod. The soldier looks like he is lunging with a halberd. Is this some kind of a petard? If so, does it have a wooden pole, and what color is the brick thingie at the end? 2) It looks like a hexagonal cluster with something in the middle. Is this a bunch of grenades? What color would DAK grenades be. 3) I assuem it's a mine. Again, what color would DAK mines be? 4) What color are DAK flamethrower tanks? I assume the hose is black. 5) Are the guys carrying lunch pails carrying ammo boxes for machine guns? Again, what color? Thank you for any help. |

I pretty much know what the models are that you are referring to but pictures might help those that actually know the answers to your questions

I assume these are the BF pioneers? If so they are supposed to be for Kursk however when painted in DAK unform colours and mixed in the other DAK they look ok. 1. Pole Charge. Wooden handle, Box on the end could be Panzer Grey, DAK vehicle cammo or maybe metallic? 2. Grenade bundle. Normal colour for stick grenades. 3. Mines could be panzer grey or DAK vehicle cammo. 4. Don't know. I painted mine Panzer grey just to make them stand out a little. 5. MG Ammo boxes would be DAK Vehicle Cammo. |

Most of what you mentioned can be German Grey or Sand (Vallejo Iraqui Sand works well). |

So what is a "pole charge" used for? And how? |

To carefully place the charge against an object at some distance from the placer. |

A "pole charge" is the run up to a "Pole Vault" isn't it? |

79th PA I'm still laughing! You don't want to get to cloe to those poles when you want to blow them up. |

Is that where the original, "I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole" came from? |

By the way, time invested in looking at actual photos of some of these things will reveal that the value of free advice is the same as what you paid for it. Allen |

I thought the pole charge was used by the 2nd Panzer Division in Poland to counter-charge the Polish cavalry? |
