Just interested to see if anyone has adapted 20mm-1/72 models and miniatures to FOW. I can just squeeze 5 figures on a standard base for FOW. The reason I am asking is because I have a ton of 20mm – 1/72 armor and figures. And I am not looking to spend a lot of money on 15mm.

Thanks

There is no reason to squeeze 5 miniatures on a base.
The number of figures has no game function at all, just like in DBX.

I will leave it to others to suggest ground scale and range modifiers.

Hi Gary, how big is a standard base in FOW? Five figures sounds like a lot for a WWII base, though of course, it depends on base size. Personally, I prefer the guys spread out and not too crowded looking. I generally use 3 figures on a 1.5" by 1.5" (38mm by 38mm) base, but that's just me.

I've done it for Flames of War WWI for Turks vs. Brits.

Here's a link:

HUBCommish,

Looks interesting. Please post a link once you've painted them up.

One of the issues I find with Flames of War is that the table ends up being very full or miniatures. You could keep the same size of bases for the infantry, but armour is definitley going to have a larger footprint.

As above, there is no need to base at 1:1, the bases are just 3D counters. For 20mm figs I usually only put 2-3 on a base (same as 15mm!)

You can just play as is or you could possibly increase the gorund scale a bit for the bigger vehicles, it doesn;t really matter though.

Like to thank everyone for their input. Sound like I will just reduce the number of figures per base. It seem like FOW stand base.

We play FOW exclusively in 1/72. We use FOW for W2 PTO and Europe , and WW1 Europe.
We make our own standard sized bases and we only put 4-5 x infantry figures to a base ,we use the same ground scale as for 15mm as the basing sizes have not been altered , it works fine , easier to paint and much cheaper in the long run.
At some point we will also moce into FOW for Vietnam and perhaps Cold War.
cheers Tom

Yep, I have been gaming FOW in 20mm for NW Europe for a while now and it works well. I just doubled the distances for fire and movement. Infantry bases are 4 figs on 4 by 2 inches (! – anyone remember tearing 4 by 2 strips to clean SLRS?)
