Okay, so the ongoing piracy debacles are just too good to pass up, for scenario generation, quick skirmish games, and even operational level, or campaign gaming. Does anyone have any good suggestions for modern US Navy Seals or Delta Force troops, British or other nationalities' Special Boat Squadron units, or other appropriate forces, e.g. Dutch, Danish, French, German GSG-9/other, Norwegian, or Swedish Seals/Marines/SAS, or other special forces units? 15mm scale is preferred, but 20mm will do in a pinch, if there is more pose variety, and/or a selection of decent figs. I'm looking for troops for boarding actions, possibly some to man inflatables, snipers, troops firing, running, and fighting hand-to-hand, etc. Troops in wetsuits and fins swimming or walking/crawling up the beach, or others sneaking about are a plus. Of course, some Somalis will be needed as well, so suggestions for those would be appreciated too (I can probably use some Peter Pig – AK-47 types in a pinch). Now, off to come up with a generic design for a foam board and plasticard merchant vessel. |

I'd say look at a combination of Ceasar plastics and Liberation metals, in 20mm, but I may be a little biased! |

Liberation makes a few packs of Somalis and a large range of special forces |

Top Gun Ace, my sculptor is working on some Navy Seals and Delta Force right after he finishes the Modern Poles and Somali Pirates / African 'militia'. He has most of the weapons all ready for casting. It might take about a month plus |

Sounds good. I hope they will inlude a variety of H&K weapons, which seem to be preferred by many Spec Forces troops. Will these be 15mm, 20mm, or other scales? |

I need to pickup the sprues from the artist to be absolutely sure but I recall there were several H&K weapons. They will be in 15mm [ie 17.5mm to top of head] |

Sounds great. A P11 underwater pistol, or two would be nice too, even though they look pretty ugly. For the Russians, if you ever do them, underwater pistols and assault rifles would be excellent. If that can't be done, I guess I can just say the AK-47/AK-74 is and UW/AR, since they look very similar. |

I am in the process of updating our 15mm modern US figures, including replacement of the existing Deltas. The new SF units will include operatives with both M4 and silenced SCAR. |

Those sound quite good Geoff. |

Caesar Miniatures makes several sets of both Terrorists / Militia types and modern military / SAS / elite troops, even modern Chinese and French. Orion makes Chechen and Federal Russians that would work well too. All these are 1/72nd scale plastic and pretty cheap. Check out link for excellent photos of these figures and nice reviews too.
