Hi!

Well Ive finally decided to do something with my Leviathan Project! I plan on painting up some small forces containing no more than a dozen miniatures each and playing Mordheim or Necromunda style skirmishes in the post apocalyptic Leviathan setting.

leviathanwar.blogspot.com

Ive started a poll to see what warbands people would like to see and the options are as follows:

An orcish patrol. A mixed group of orcs scouting ahead of the great horde. The force will consist of several savage orcs along with a posse of regulars, a minor Kahn and his great orc bodyguard.

Goblin freedom fighters. Long crushed under the foot of the orcs, these goblins are escaped slaves intent on freeing their kin and looting the occasional settlement while theyre at it. Will consist of a group of goblins with mixed weapons and several herds of lesser goblins along with a troll.

Barbarian Raiders. Savage humans from the north on a raiding expedition led by a seasoned veteran along with a druid followed by some impetuous youngbloods and a lesser stone elemental.

Dwarven Adventurers. A group of experienced dwarven types exploring the region around the nearby dwarf hold. Consists of an ancient leader, an engineer with some automaton support and several dwarven warriors in support.

Elven Slavers. The baddies! A group of elven degenerates with supporting demon!

Light Elven Scouts. Most of the elves in Leviathan are evil and twisted demon worshipping drug addicts but some still follow the light. A scout group led by a magic user on some unfathomable quest.

Knights of the Eternal Light! Noble human templars fighting to turn back the darkness. The knights all have mechanical right hands with all sorts of interesting built in weapon options. Support will come in the form of some lowly squires while leadership is a templar champion.

Children of the Worm. Vile undead creatures bringing the gift of unlife to the world. The force consists of some rotting corpses along with a few more preserved minions led by a necromancer. Possible support may be some sort of worm creature or skeletal construct.

Pitiful Human Rabble. Most of humanity has been reduced to scavenging through the ruins of once great cities and this group is typical. There will probably be quite a few of them, many with some sort of mutations. The leader will be a wild eyed rabble rouser with a big mutant enforcer.

Any suggestions for other forces or indeed miniatures would be most welcome!

All the best!

Glad to see you're picking this project up again, Lt B! Your stuff has all been great so far. I'm a fan of Chronopia, and in a lot of ways Leviathan is a prototypical version of the Chronopia setting.

I look forward to seeing your progress with these warbands!

Hi!

Its good to get back to Leviathan to be honest as its been a game Ive been interested in since it first came out in the 90s. I dont have the time to paint huge warbeasts and stuff while Im at university but do think that I can manage getting the occasional warband put together and painted!

Ive got some Chronopia stuff lined up to use in my new warbands! Its another brilliant game! I just wish someone would pick it up and develop the setting and release some new miniatures too!

All the best!

Cool that you're getting motivated again!
Have you gotten any of the dwarf Golems painted up or compiled your rules for them yet?

It also be cool to work up a list of suitable proxies for some of the troops… like, what would you use for the Worm armies?

Nice to see you back on Leviathan, Leutenant!

I think creating small warbands rather than huge armies is a good way to maintain interest in a project. I have my fair share of large armies, but I have 3 or 4 times as many small warbands. It lets me get some nice minis for periods or genres in which I don't want to invest enough for a whole army. And that includes several Leviathan and Chronopia warbands.

When I get a new digital camera, I'll definitely take a photo of my painted Lesser Goblin Rabble and send it to you. My birthday is coming up, so hopefully in the next month or so.

In the meantime, keep up the good work!

Hi!

Any pictures of painted leviathan stuff will be most welcome!

Im thinking of starting up a bit of a narrative campaign with a map for my warbands to brawl over. The background material has tons of useful locations ranging from abandoned dwarven holds to demon infested ruins and frozen wastes!

Ive been having a bit of a rummage through my bits boxes and have rather a lot of useful stuff to choose from!

Alas its looking like the children of the worm are an early favourite for a warband so I may have to purchase a few undead zombie types and a decent necromancer to lead them! At present the heresys ghouls, zombies and dark brethren are looking like a good choice, along with some of the reaper stuff!

Ah, I just noticed you've already started on the Worm proxy stuff… cool.
I love the idea of the big worms carrying undead troops inside and vomiting them up on the battlefield… very nasty.

I will try and get some more concept art posted at some point for the children of the worm!

The Devourer Worm was my idea to make the undead typical slow shuffle a thing of the past! Imagine a gigantic worm lurking under the battlefield before bursting out and spewing a herd of undead at you!

Nice!

Leutenant Brittan I am almost ready to unveil my Barbarian horde!
A few more days and Ill post them.
You gave me the inspiration to start this project.

I like the look of your orc beasties. Nice colors. Makes me want to go get my rulebook and reread it again.
