Matt, Very useful photos. This takes us back to the infernal and continual problem of scale, and the dreaded "SCALE CREEP." The Newline figures are "true" 20mm, whereas the Kennington figures are what we used to call 25mm. But the ungodly scale creep of so-called "25mm figures" has rendered the term almost meaningless. Back in the 1970s, 25mm meant just that – figures which were 25mm tall (without headgear). The upshot is that the Newline figures are not compatable with anything except Scruby 20mm and precious few other makers. It's a shame, since Newline has great figures and an excellent selection and range. I propose that we, the buying community, start demonstrating for SCALE descriptions. The only makers who conform to this idea are 1/72 plastics, and Art Miniaturen (also 1/72). How many wasted dollars have we spent on "25mm" or "28mm" figures which are incompatable with each other? Perhaps we need some kind of standards institute which enforces this kind of thing. Personally, I grow sick of the excuses made for figures which are not compatable with others of supposedly the same scale. |
