OK here we go. This is a figure range I have done some work on, spent a fare bit of money on. I am not totaly happy with them so please do not think that these are the finished product. I (if I carry on with them) will be changing the heads and changing the arms slightly. The pictures are of the 15mm scale, there is a lot more detail in the 28mm. I will be keeping the bodies and legs the same. The 15mm figures stand at between 25 and 30mm tall , as I wanted them to be the equivalent of between 8 to 10ft high. Very large beasts. The 28mm figures stand at roughly 45 to 50mm tall. The arms are seperate so can be positioned as needed. Here is a little bit about them. Karloks Karloks are an ancient and nomadic alien race. They roam the galaxy in decrepit, labrynthine ships of arcane design. Their purposes are mysterious, as they sometimes will conduct savage raids, carrying away prisoners who are never seen again. At other times, they take no interest in prisoners, but seem fixated on seizing and taking away apparently random mechanical objects. Karloks seem to be scavengers, and frequently re-use plundered machinery in constructing their own weapons and vehicles, and even in maintaining their vast ships. It is said that the Karloks were once tall, physically powerful creatures. Over the long millenia, removed from natural selection, they have degenerated into their present form. Although still possessed of intelligence, their bodies are always withered and deformed, and most Karloks are born without legs entirely. Because of this, the Karloks have become completely dependent upon mechanical augmentations. These clockwork harnesses partially enclose their bodies, providing locomotion, armour, and life-support functions. Without a harness, most Karloks would be utterly incapacitated, and they are never seen without them. Some Karloks seem to have degenerated in mind as well. These eschew the use of weapons, and instead will rush towards other living creatures, seeking to rend their victims apart with their bare hands.
I think there is a lot of potential in these figures but please give your opinon. picture picture picture picture Thanks Mike |

I REALLY like them!!! They remind me of aquatic Xindi: link Except that, if you say they are amphibian, it justifies not having breathing apparatus. Finally a good reason to fear the water's edge!!! Dan TMP link |

I like it. The hands look a bit big, and it is hard to tell about the head, from the photos, but looks good from the angles I am seeing. |

Mike: I am not much of a sci-fi gamer, but CC most certainly is – the figs look good and if CC thinks they will work well for gaming, I would bet they will Interesting concept – offers lots of potential |

Yes the hands are definatly going to be changed, they are supposed to be ripping claws coming out of the skin, similar to Wolverine. As I said I am not happy with them. |

Go for it. New 15mm aliens are always welcome. |

I wish Star Trek had taken the Borg in a wider direction, one that included non-humanoids. These "Karlocks" show some out-of-the-box thinking that can easily be refined further. Just don't stray to far from the original look though which, to me, should be closer to that of the Aquatic Xindi (with prosthetics, that is) than anything else: link picture picture link msnbc.msn.com/id/7103668 link I can just hear the Karlocks saying . . . "Legs? Legs??? In space we don't need no stinking legs! Oops. I guess we need some, every once in a while." It was about time that someone thought of making a miniature race that showed de-evolution after being in a weightless environment for millennia, either in space or under water, and an attempt to compensate for the new physique. Either the lower limbs will disappear entirely, or we will develop hands in place of feet (naturally or by design), to make an extra useful pair of limbs for weightless living. Dan PS. star trek didn't have THAT many 'non-humanoid' aliens
but one WONDERS how the borg would have 'assimilated' a ship of Tholians
or those aliens that wanted the human colonists off their world
or the aquatic Xindi, or Horta? (or the vampiric cloud-creature)
or the Excalbians (molten rock creatures???) What about the plant-based Phylosians from ANIMATED st??? or winged, or cat-like??? Might have been 'interesting'
But CC you were asking how a race might evolve/look in another thread in 'micro-gravity'
.this might be one approach??? Slishfully, Sgt DWW-btod |

I like the retro- VSF – Pulp look. So what if the hands are out-of-human proportion! I'm looking forward to you up and coming cops- so I can justify buying your hawk-men and. |

Voting "yes" here – a cybernetically enhanced race with some disadvantages makes for excellent scenario potential, and they look quite new. |

JJ Do you mean tires or treads? If so, I think that's absolutely brilliant! Dan |
