On my blog:

These are very large 15mm-scale Crocodilian Knights riding on charging wooly rhinos!

(Crossposted to SF because these will soon be converted to be a sub-species of Garn which ride alien monsters and use plasmas pistols in their attacks!)

Cacique Caribe06 Feb 2010 11:58 a.m. PST

Awesome!

Dan.
PS. I hope the thermostat is set to a comfortable level. Otherwise, either that lizard's muscles will stiffen up or the woolly rhino will sweat to death. :)

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 12:15 p.m. PST

Thanks Dan!

Know you were joking, but FWIW it's now known that Crocodilians, like the dinosaurs they are distantly related to (they are not lizards), have some ability to control their own body temperature.

Also, Wooly Rhinos lived in climates that could get quite warm in summer and would not have sweated to death, but if you give my description in the blog post a read you'll see they are not wild with joy about always living in a warm climate.

Something quite similar happened during the middle ages in the southern part of the Indian sub-continent, as a matter of fact. The South Indians imported horses for war, but the horses did not like the hot weather and did not breed there.

You tease! I had hoped for historical ones. frown

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut06 Feb 2010 12:29 p.m. PST

I am eagerly awaiting the converted Garn-on-Rhino, any ETA? Now stop teasing me so I can place an order without waiting for the next thing I saw to come out…

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 12:41 p.m. PST

This was not posted on any historical board, Cyrus.

Impala, go ahead and order, the sculptor does not even have the metal masters for conversions yet! Wouldn't expect them until summer.

More pics…more pics…more pics!

Top Gun Ace06 Feb 2010 1:16 p.m. PST

Hmmm, I'd like to see some of these without their mounts, and with laser/blaster pistols.

I rather prefer the web-footed look for my lizards, and crocs…..

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 1:21 p.m. PST

Yes, they will be made with a big pistol, as the first post indicates. They won't be made as infantry though. Instead they will ride a big carnivorous creature, perhaps something inspired by the meat eater in Avatar, though only indirectly.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut06 Feb 2010 1:28 p.m. PST

I am definitely waiting for the Felid support models.

Dragon Gunner06 Feb 2010 1:33 p.m. PST

They look great but you need a few infantry poses to dismount and pursue into rough terrain or buildings.

Dragon Gunner06 Feb 2010 2:18 p.m. PST

When are the Argentians and Parayans going to be released?

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 2:24 p.m. PST

They will be used with the normal garn as the infantry.

The Argentians and Parayans will be argentinians and paraguayans from the War of the Triple Alliance, and won't be made for a while. Sculptor has to make crew for the Garn tanks, the Gurkhas and Germans for Mystri Island, and the Salamen first!

Dragon Gunner06 Feb 2010 2:34 p.m. PST

Salamen?

Cyrus the Great06 Feb 2010 2:49 p.m. PST

True, but I have almost every category enabled on my front page so I look at headings not boards. *sniff*

Your Savannah Lord is very cool too! thumbs up

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 3:03 p.m. PST

Yes, Salamen! grin

More on them later -- they are in the queue after:

1) last chinantec pieces
2) garn tank crew
3) Gurkhas
4) German stosstruppen

Cacique Caribe06 Feb 2010 4:49 p.m. PST

Salamen? Salamen? As in "Saladmen", or as in "Salamen the Wise"? :)

Dan
PS. Time for my next round of pain killers, please.

khurasanminiatures06 Feb 2010 5:47 p.m. PST

Salamen? Salesmen? Allahmen?

Cacique Caribe06 Feb 2010 5:50 p.m. PST

How about Saltmen?

TMP link

Dan
PS. Where are my drugs? I'm getting delirious with pain!

Hrothgar Berserk06 Feb 2010 7:52 p.m. PST

Salamen? A humanoid version of the Asian giant salamander?

The crocodilians might make a landing at Davao to liberate the crocodile park.

MiniatureReview06 Feb 2010 8:59 p.m. PST

Jon,

Love your blog. Reading the writeups about the figures is great fun.

unitrecon07 Feb 2010 4:30 a.m. PST

I hate when you keep dropping hints – only to bring out something left field!

I note that you projected resease schedule has gone to pot!

But please – keep on doing wot you are doing!

Wellspring07 Feb 2010 5:42 a.m. PST

:( I was hoping this would be some kind of Felid senior officer/aristo-cat.

Though one thing that rocks about Khurasan's lines: you could still have this in a sci fi game as a Garn doing a ritual hunt or other non-warfare activity.

Not sure what you mean on either count. I may not be 100% right, and projected things occasionally get dropped or shifted back due to longterm sales trends, but I generally move ahead and make what I say I'm going to. The biggest variable for me is the casting time. I have no control over that. Sometimes I get sales castings back a month after I send in the greens, sometimes 4-5 months later.
