Shuffler: 2d Modern Map Creator Hi there, a new Section in Shuffler takes you to an Outdoor environment. It is still in Beta release but nevertheless available tiles let you build a basic City Map with streets and sidewalks. With the launch of Shuffler 2.4 there will be a separate City Map so to give a sample of what you can obtain with these new tiles. So I am looking for someone to help me with suggestions, ideas, practical needs in Wargames sessions, and playtests before the final release. If you are interested, you are welcome here: link Many thanks to those who will take part to this Project. Kind Regards Claudio Pieroni Paper Make iT ! |

You may want to take a look at doing WWI (Great War) trench warfare terrain. Shell holes, barbwire, trenches, bunkers and I could go on. Doing this terrain in 3D is very expensive and frankly seldom looks that great (of course there are some great terrain examples out there but these are few and far between). For the casual WWI game, tiles might be an acceptable alternative. mjc |

Just checked out your site and everything looks great! Will have to wait till I have more time to really dig in there and see everything. Outdoors for city stuff, dumpsters, trash cans, mail boxes, bus benches, wreak buses and cars low and high walls, fences, hedges, bodies? Outdoors in the country Marsh, swap, creeks, streams, ditches, fallen trees, dirt roads, trails, |

Many thanks for your clues. I wander, just to start step by step as objects number grows, how much such a 2D Map would be used: a- only flat terrain and objects (asphalt, sidewalks, manhole covers, sewer crates, underground entrances, directional signs on asphalt, etc.) and then gamers add 3d buildings, bridges, phone boxes, postal boxes, traffic lights, trees, benches, cars, buses, etc. so that you can move them freely and you get a visual good looking. b- everything pictured on the 2D Map, so that you save money, storage space, time to prepare the terrain, etc. The reason for that is: in a first phase, is it better to have more terrain tiles (a) or less terrain tiles and more objects (b)? |

Sounds good to me, but I'm just one person, if I want 3D streets and sidewalks I would just cut the sidewalk fron the street tiles and set up on foam boards then just cover the edges then I would have a 3D tile of streets and sidewalks. |

Without any further opinion I am adopting (a) solution as I suppose could be fine for both type of gamers. Today Shuffler 2.4 was released with a set of City Street tiles. Then more tiles will come soon. Any suggestions welcome. |

A whole City Map will be released as collection of pdfs pages. Today the first part of it is available here: link This is a set of 19 pages with straight and corner 6"x10" modules. With them you can start to map your City. Other sets will be released soon with other kind of streets. Each set contains also the source smp files that let you modify these modules in Shuffler. |
