Hello everybody, I need some advice from the most "pro" gamers around. My friends and I stumbled on a big Epic40k offer and bought it, so now we have 5 armies waiting to be painted and sent to do battle. But we would like to expand and round out our armies. The armies are Eldar, Imperial Guard, Chaos, Orks and Marines, and a friend is also looking fo Necrons (don't ask me why!;) I'm asking you any suggestion for possible alternative models to complete and expand the above mentioned armies. for those not familiar with the 40k universe here's a brief description of the armies ELDAR: sleek with rounded shapes, smooth angles almost organic look, elegant. The elves of space. IMPERIAL GUARD: the army, but with very steampunk/victorian style vehicles CHAOS: mutants and cultist, but with elite infantry ORKS: typical green ork but with guns; vehicles are a mix of 50s sci-fi and mad max SPACE MARINES: medieval knight style power armours and vehicles with a very square look NECRONS: metallic skeleton armies with an egyptian feeling thank you in advance, I'm reading thru previous post, but being a lazy git I decided to ask again

Look at Dark Realm stuff for Imperial Guard and Necrons. |

Why not just get more Epic stuff? Ebay has lots of it, and it's usually reasonable priced. auction |

For that matter (ducks), GW's prices on their infantry is actually almost decent. It's about $20 USD for a 'company' worth of their plastic infantry. They have broken out a lot of the specialist troops into separate blisters now but the stock SM, Ork, etc. are available in plastic and relatively reasonable price. If I were building up Orks, I'd buy from C in C. They have a nice deal of 50 WWII tanks in 6mm for $35, looks like. link |

urzilla-> Its worth your time to look at 'Tactical Command' and the sub-board 'EpicComms' (an epic/6mm specialty site): link link In particulair: The threads on Proxie Comparison & 6mm Manufacturers answer your question in some detail: link link |

Yes
Tac Cmd is the answer
I also recommend DRM, Exodus Wars & GZG
You can access those links from Tac Cmd also
If you are a 6mm Sci-fi guy, you really need to be on Tactical Command

To Privateer's point, one of the few reasonable deals left from GW are the plastic Epic infantry assortments. Hard to find a better deal anywhere else. For Eldar vehicles, I'd look at the Renegade Legion line from PCF-CinC, or the Adler Dark Star vehicles. Orks can use anything! Chaos vehicles are usually perversions of Imperial vehicles, so taking some plastic Marine vehicles and adding spikey bits shouldn't be hard. |

Thank you for the wise words, the link'd list is definitely a must ;)As for GW infantry I'll give it a try on ebay I guess
and the idea of WWI-II vehicles for ork just tingles my conversion madness
So, off I am to war! PS: has anybody tried this 6mm ? link |

interesting, What wrong with shapeways? I know the cost is a bit much. haven't ordered myself but curious. wound not recomend games workshop. i would go for plasmablast, gzg, dark realm, exodus wars (in no particular order) as they have supperior sculpts and are metal. Got some space marines and they just look bad compared to the others
in my opinion. |

Well it appears to me Shapeways just does not have the detail. And they have some "odd" designs, IMO. However all I collectis 6mm SF
And I have G/W-F/W, DRM, Exodus and GZG
I think they all paint up well
IMO

Yeah they look awesome, perhaps because im not an awesome painter is why i rely on great sculpts to look good!!! also my marines look quite puny to other ranges. |
