Now this would be a fun 28mm figure to have. Not sure how I'd use it, maybe an "Eagle Has Landed" scenario, but it's a cool concept -- Winston Churchill seen here posing with a Tommy Gun:

Put Mr. Churchill with his tommy gun into the anti-fascists in 1938 leading a section in the VBCW.

It would be easier to cast it without the cigar, I would think. We can always add some brass rod…

Didn't someone make this figure a few years ago?

John, you are correct, i have a churchill figure like that, but can't remember who the manufacturer was.

they also sold an old guy in bathrobe with medals on the chest, if that rings any bells for anyone

The old guy with medals and bathrobe will be classic David Low cartoon character Col.Blimp often portrayed in a Turkish bath pontificating on polotics and the world at large.

Low claimed to have invented the character after hearing two old army types, in a steam room, bemoaning the fact that cavalry officers weren't allowed to wear their spurs in tanks!

That was Hetzerdog Enterprises… now sadly defunct. Amazon Miniatures also sold them for a while.

Hey, wait a minute, isn't that the notorious "Limey" Churchill from Frank Fontana's mob from the lower East side?

Whoops, you mean this isn't the Pulp board? Sorry, carry on.

(But really, he looks like a "swell" thug to me. Played by W.C. Fields.)

SBminisguy02 Feb 2010 11:46 p.m. PST

Ah well, perhaps there are still a few figures floating about for sale.

Doug em4miniatures03 Feb 2010 3:20 a.m. PST

Didn't the Nazis use that as propaganda photo to show that Churchill was just a degenerate gangster?

They obviously didn't get irony.

I have a tommy-gun toting Churchill. Got it from Amazon Miniatures.

I recall reading in the alternate history book "The Reich Victorious" the author of one story was inspired by this photo and wrote in a scene where Churchill, armed with a tommygun, lead a bunch of old guard soldiers to Parliment when Britain was contemplating surrendering to Germany.
