For my Hesse Kassel French revolutionary army I need german AWI figures in British style breaskin. Are there any around? |

Nobody makes a specific figure, AFAIK. What size/scale are you working in? You could try French 1790s grenadiers in bearskin and gaiters. You'd need to lose the epaulettes and the backpack would be wrong (I think Hessians still used the Prussian-style satchel/tournister), but the uniform would be pretty close. Have a look at these:- link You need to "click to enlarge" on the figures in the top right of the window. |

sorry, forgot, I want them for 25mm |

Well, the Eureka figures will be 28mm. |

Would Front Rank AWI French grenadiers in bearskin work? They are not quite 28mm, but slightly taller than 25. In any event, if you are desperate, both the Eureka and FR figures can supply heads for head swaps. |

I tried to put British grenadier heads on AWI Hesse Kassel troops (as in fact that's what they wore) but the outcome wasn't great. That's why my question. Plus its expensive |

By the way, how does Front Rank compare to Perry figures? |

FR's AWI range is one of their oldest, so the figures are closer to 25mm than 28mm (and certainly nothing like as tall as the recent FR Marlburian range). Perrys are slimmer and taller, and more anatomically accurate; but FR are slightly easier to paint (or so I'm told by friends – I find all painting difficult these days) as the detail is more exaggerated. Have you thought of using "Green Stuff" or Milliput to turn mitre caps into bearskin caps? (Not dissimilar to what some British units did in 1768.) |

If you know me, you would have known that I 'm terrible with this kind of stuff; even chopping of heads wasn't a succes. But thanks for your suggestion; will try to convince a friend to do it for me (or going french) |
