"They"? – nothing like stereotyping the whole of China (my wife is Chinese so you will understand my outrage)

Yeah, well so is my wife. She's not so foolish to deny reality. Who are you going to believe, the Chinese or your own lying eyes? Give it a break buddy.

"He also is replacing your broken items, and I am sure you will have new ones in the mail."

Yeah right. Believe it when I see it. Had over a year to make it up, why now?

Are Falcon Minis still going? The owner had a very nice line in painting via the family of his Philipino wife. Very affordable and good quality…..

All that has been written above is really just business as usual when dealing with China. If all goes well, then fantastic, but when things start to go wrong, there are few safety nets and plenty of good intentions which somehow never get put into practise! The Chinese concept of business is totally different from western ideals.

I can second the ex-Falcon (abugan on eBay). I've bought a few from him and had a few done special and been very pleased with the service.

Have bought a number of armies and units, 15 and 25mm, from DPS. While I've had a few small problems from time to time, they were promptly resolved and always heavily in my favor.

Likewise I've bought several thousand US Dollars of stuff from DPS – mostly in large commission batches of $1000+ or $2000+ at a time and service has always been excellent and painting quality outstanding. And all figures (95% of mine have been Perry's Colonial & Napoleonic) appear to be genuine.

Yes instructions are sometimes hard – but so as long as you make the requirements simple – give a clear list of figure packs to make up a unit from and which unit that is they do a great job. 90% of the time they appear to be using the Osprey Illustrations as their painting masters…

You can see some work they did for me in 2008 & early 2009 here: link and link and link – in the last example (Sudanese) I have dry brushed the figures heavily to tone down the colours a bit and give them a long on campaign look. (And half my Colonial stuff in the photos in my game reports on my site has been painted by them also – e.g. British Camel Corps, Screw Gun, & (Foundry) Victorian Women here: link ).

In all cases I do my own basing and flags/standards – I don't have DPS do any of that – just paint the figures.

And they have always been very good and communicated well and packing is, as mentioned, fantastic. Delivery is fast, and the only time you get a delay is hitting the Chinese New Year – if you order Nov-Jan you won't get anything until late March or more because they have the big 3-week holiday in Feb which is their only real holiday each year. And honestly, there's not many out there that paint to the same standard for the same price. I don't know why people think DPS are expensive, because for the quality (skill level) of the painting itself, they are right up there and you won't get Western Painters doing that quality for that price.

and a second email where I ask other bases:

Oggetto: Oggetto: inviato una domanda sull'oggetto numero 221053462958, con scadenza in data 21-lug-12 08:04:07 CEST – 15mm High Medieval DPS Painted DBA Later Swiss Army DBA479

Gentile herbertyuki,

Can i add some pk? I need other 40 bases is it possibile?
___________________________________________________________

So I bought 40+52 + 4 general asked total bases 96 bases each bases 4 miniatures as written down in one email where I explain how should be the swiss miniatures based.
at the end of august I receve only 20 bases (total miniatures 80) instead 96 bases
I write to dps and he told me I never ask 96 bases but 20 bases + 1 general.
So now I have payed 20 bases + 1 general all miniatures in 15mm 285€
pls make attention he is a big thief.
I have photo of my small pack and a copy of his email where he write to me the price of my order for 96 bases of each 4 miniatures. I LOOSE MY MONEY AND MY TIME.
STAY AWAY FROM THAIWAN PAINTER LIKE THIS PEOPLE

darclegion14 Sep 2012 12:23 p.m. PST

seems like there was a confusion on the emails, I was a bit confused myself. What was the auction actually for and what was price on that action. In other words, how many "bases" did you win on the auction?

I have ordered lots of stuff, all high quality, great service from them, no one is perfect, people are not always going to have a perfect transaction. They are located in China, btw.
Just seems there was a bit of communication miss-understanding. They are always quick to fix any problem I have seen.

Try talking to them again, to fix it, I would not be calling them thieves on the internet, since they are not, because that will not help your problem.

I can tell you alot about Thieves, Ive delt with a few myself. But these guys are not.

tom
Sorry you had a problem, but they are no thieves, in my book.

SDADDY15 Sep 2012 1:32 p.m. PST

There was an auction about swiss army, but I'd like to buy only swiss heavy foot and more than the aution so I write to him to ask the price for 52 bases (before) and 44 bases (in the second email) My email was clear (52 bases of heavy foot based 4cmx1,5cm each bases 4 miniatures). He send me only 21 bases. SO until now I payed 21 bases 287€ it is a good price?
expecially if you reply to my email of request saying the price of 52 bases?
Really I write to him a lot of time more than 15 emails. His replies are very different (one times he told me he give me the price for 21 bases, another times he told me yes missing some bases but few bases, another times he told me you have done the bases but not yet sent to me).
When I write I said: there is no problem I need 96 bases, if you don't want to sell I can send to you the bases you send me, but you shiuld send the money back…
his reply was… NOTHING…
for me if I don't have bases or money back they take my money in a thief way.
Even if to friend of mine he buy a number of miniatures but receve less (few less miniatures…so he do not write to him because he loose very few minitures)
So my it is not the first time.
I hope to find a solution…everybody can make errors but if you don't want to repair to the errors I think is a problem ;)
he has got all my comprehension if we find a solution and I'll buy again from him (i will give a second change)

Many people in this thread seem to be upset with DPS. Why not try another painting service like DJD Miniatures?
We ALWAYS do our best to take care of our customers.

I've never used a painting service before, but on a whim I made an offer on some 15mm Imperial Romans. No breakage, packing was great and I'm very pleased with the degree of painting. Maybe I was just lucky! I will order from them again.

Interesting thread, thanks for the info.

I recently bought 4 lots off ebay from DPS. I had a question regarding the models and my email was answered within 2 days. I purchased the models below the listed price. I was notified of shipping within 1 day or purchase. From acceptance by carrier to delivery at my door was 6 days. The packing was great and not a single damaged model. I'm extremely happy with the detail and quality of the painting. This was my first dealing with DPS.
