Does anyone make the earlier, pre-war production, model of this vehicle?

Thanks all.

I think that JTFM Enterprises have a White M3 Scout Car

I don't know if it's the earlier version though.

I just heard back from Jeff. His is an M3A1.

I've just done a little research and the vehicle your most likely looking for is actually the White T-7 scout car model 1938 redesignated the M3 in 1939, if the links I've been following are correct.

The article is near the bottom of the page.

This link is to a pic of the T-7 model 1934, this is probably the one you're looking for. This site is in Dutch I believe and if you go to the home page under "Pansar" scroll to the U.S. section at the bottom of the side bar and click on the M3 there is a pic there of the M3A1 and the earlier M3.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Jeff @ JTFM

M3 and M4 seem to be very popular designations. A cartoon springs to mind of everyone with the wrong kit, as the requisition just said 'M3' and 'M4'!

That always bugged me that some nimnod paper pusher in the Army offices got stuck on three as a designation. Tanks, halftracks, scout cars and weapons all got the same "M3" designation and it makes for some big time confusion occasionally!

Well, perhaps it could cut both ways, when your infantry squad requisitioned a replacement M3 Grease Gun, and received an M3 halftrack instead, so you and yer mates no longer have to walk everywhere (and the nice, shiny machine guns that came with it are loads of fun too)…evil grin

Just sayin'….evil grin
