Great documentary, narrated by Burt Lancaster, about the war in the east. Really Soviet-biased, but good nonetheless.

Enjoy

PER TMP COMPLIANCE STANDARDS: How would you game Burt Lancaster falling through a temporal rift and ending up in Stalingrad?

Whoops, sopke too soon. Burt's voice appears to be dubbed over in Russian, which I don't speak. Oh well, maybe we have some Russian speakers who will enjoy it.

I wish that I could find the original, English version of this.

I taped the whole thing a long back when it was on some channel and Burt was speaking English. I wonder if the tapes are still in decent shape? Will try and find them over the weekend.

It was a good series to watch.

IIRC It was on PBS here awhile back. Robert

The series came out some 20-30 years ago (IIRC). It came at a time when most in the west still viewed the "Eastern Front" as a place where the winter and human waves destroyed the German Army. It used previously untapped sources to provide a different view of the conflict than that presented in "Lost Victories" and "Paul Carell's" books.

Just like IGWARG- saw it when I was younger- great series. Have it on DVD- without Russian dubbing- all Burt Lancaster- all the time. Soviet biased???- just the side of conflict west is not familiar with…

sergeis30 Jan 2010 6:10 a.m. PST

Inc Thaken link has Greek subtitles…

I thought it was Russian. Shows what I know.
