Does any one know when I would be able to get 15mm scale or close to 15mm civilian vehicles? I'm looking for cars, trucks, SUVs big rigs etc.

Matchbox, Hotwheels, bring a 15mm to the toy store and find what fits.

I've seen a pic of the APC from Aliens repainted as a Police Vehicle.

I presume for riot control, as opposed to normal patrol duties.

Konami makes a nice little one that is compatible with 15mm figs.

There was a great line at Walmart a couple years ago, started wwith an M, but I dont remeber what it was. But they had all sorts of stuff.

Has anyone seen these? link This company makes miceo armour and N and HO scale railway products, the cars and trucks look great, but does N or HO = 15mm?

Top Gun Ace23 Jan 2010 3:11 p.m. PST

HO is closer, e.g. 1/87th vs 1/100th (15mm).

cloudcaptain23 Jan 2010 3:38 p.m. PST

1/87 works fine IMHO and as mentioned. That line was Motormax/Kid Connection. You can still find some of them in the discount sections at times…and I wouldn't be shocked if they are back or will be this summer.

I use a LOT of cheap 1:87 or HO scale cars and trucks with my 15mm moderns.

Here are a couple of shots of a HO scale pick up, some 15mm bad guys, and a 15mm Peter Pig Toyota truck. Trucks have FoW/Battlefront Russian MGs mounted.

I've got a pickup truck coming soon in 15mm, though it's more of a sci fi vehicle, not modern. It has tracks.

As long as you stick to civilians vehicles it should be just fine. It is the military ones that are going to stick out. i still have a number of my old Roco Minitanks around and they are definately to big to go with 15mm. But it is not like all civilian vehicles are the same size anyway, and we dont expect them to be.

There are these with models in both 1/96 and 1/100:

I got a set of the 1/96 scale vehicles and they are pretty nice, very clean castings. The detail on mine is not as pronounced as in the photos on the site, particularly around the side windows, but they are still quite good quality. They appear to all be Dodge products from a few years back; Neon, Intrepid, Caravan, Dodge pickups.

There is also the cheaper 1/100 scale models a little further down the page, I have not purchased those, but assume from the pic that they are more generic and lesser quality castings.

Wow, $5.60 USD each! I should adjust the prices on my 15mm scale vehicles! wink

Cosmic Reset24 Jan 2010 8:35 a.m. PST

I kind of feel the same way about the pricing, but then again, Peter Pig's Toyota pick-up is $5.88 USD through Brookhurst.

I got a bunch of Model Power Minis vehicles for my 15mm moderns. They are listed as HO (1:87) but to my untrained eye tend to seem a little smaller and fit in well with my figs. I've tried other 1:87 such as Roco and Boley but as mentioned above they tend to "look" too big. There is a local train shop where I buy a lot of my scenery making stuff and they carry them. Model Power Minis does have an online shop.

4D models ( modelshop.co.uk ) have a small selection of 1/100 vehicles including a nice Galaxy which my contractors ride around in, but they don't make technical type trucks.

EKO brand from a model Railroad supply shop will fit the bill. They are 1/96th scale. I got a hand full at the Great NW Train Show for $2.00 USD each. Good buy, even from Walters they are a reasonable prices. Just check out the online RR web sites. They have many european makes & models of cars from the 1950's on up, which was what I was looking for.

Good cheap sources for cars, buses trains, trees and people in approx. 15mm scale are Chinese model railroad or architectural suppliers on ebay. One example is everestmodel which I use regularly.

Fabe Mrk 224 Jan 2010 8:33 p.m. PST

Thanks for all the replies guys, looks like I have plenty of options. Right now the everestmodels on E-bay looks like that best deal,40 cars for a starting bid of less then $10.can
