Gents, Here is what I stumbled on today in the $1 USD section of my local target. The barns come in two flavors and are in with a bunch of farm toys. Thay are 3" x 4" and have a tab that allows you connect them together. There is also a goofy looking silo available that I did not get. Here are some pics with a Reaper Chronoscope Cowgirl and the swell RLBPS Allen Quatermain for scale. picture picture picture picture picture I think they will paint up great as a garage or shed. I got 3, but now that I see how they scale, will probably get more. My Target had a slew of them. Amalric |

Those are just the sort of thing I am looking for to run demos of The Horror with. Thanks! Up until now I've used these cardboard houses from Hobby Lobby. link -Ken Radioactive Press |

Just remember the old '80s horror movie rule: "Don't go in the barn!" |

There is a XXX

I ran by Target this morning, and picked up three barns (all they had) – one with windows, two with stalls. I was hoping the roofs would be removable, but these look to be glued on tight. Strangely, the "slide together" areas are not integral to the structure, but are glued on – and in my samples, one has already come loose. The barn and stalls will slide together, but the barn roof prevents them from lining up properly. But it's only a little crooked. You can connect any number of stalls, but each stall echelons slightly behind the other, and you get a window on one stall that faces a wall on the other part. The barn, on the other hand, only connects at one end of a "chained" set of buildings. |

I was hoping the roofs would be removable, but these look to be glued on tight. Nothing can resist the power of the Zona saw

just stopped by a target, and all they had left were two stall barns and a silo. really good stuff for a buck. I bought what they had an will try to find another Target to get the regular barns. With a bit of greebling, the silo will be great as 40k terrain, and it has an appropriate sized ladder on the side! |

I picked up a few of each and, thanks to a bout of insomnia I wound up priming and painting everything last night. The barns got nutmeg walls and country tan rooves and trim. The silos got a coat of silver and look appropriately industrial. All they need now is a little weathering. A great deal for a buck a piece! |

I picked up what was left at my local Target. Two sets plus two extra silos. I think one set is going to become "The Gown Barn", Saturday afternoon meeting place of the ootra-chic, of the fictional Midwestern college town, Prairie du Merde, Wisconsin, site of all manner of supernatural events and the home away from home of the Milwaukee field office of the FBI. You can find it on the fictional map of Wisconsin, due south of Devil's Lake. |

Doesn't Woman Weeping River flow into Devil's Lake? |

I'll have to look, but it sounds so Native American lore-filled, that if it doesn't, I'll add it to my map. The B&B Circus museum is just up the road in Baraboo. There are all sorts of horrors that emanate from that place. Killer clowns, abused circus freaks, mistreated elephants
..the source of horror/pulp material from this area is endless. Just up the road a piece is the Wisconsin Dells, mecca of all blue-collar adventure-seekers from Green Bay to Gary. The automobiles driven in this area alone make it worth a visit. The collection of misfits from every walk of life below the 35K a year line make it one of the most colorful areas of the Midwest to draw modern pulp characters from. I also recommend a visit to Wisconsin Dolls. Don't bring the wife. Just a hop-skip and a touch and go north of here is Volk Air National Guard Base. Their mini-RedFlag control center would put Top Gun to shame, and many UFO sightings come from the special use airspace the base controls. It is of course home of the BLUE TEAM of USAF personnel trained to deal with "Fallen Angels" in the Midwest. Heck, more crashed saucers have passed through Volk Field than Hangar 13. Who said the Midwest is boring? If in the area, I recommend a visit to THE LAST SQUARE. This is a "must see" game store and one of the last that caters to the historical gamer. The people are great and the store is first class. Look for it off of Route 12 on Odana Road in Madison WI. (You know. The place in Wisconsin surrounded by reality.) Also within an A-10's mission is Games Plus in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, the last bastion of a traditional gaming store in Northern Illinois. Enough plugs
..I'm done
..wink wink Jeff. |
