I recall that the Russian infantry regiments had their sword knots in different colours depending on the company. Can anybody tell me the exact combinations?

Thanks

The above is accurate prior to the reforms of 1810, however the white fabric sword knot had a 'bell' in the Inspection colour, and the bottom fringe was in the colours indicated by PAH's post.

Post 1810, the strap and fringe were white, whereas the 'bell' and 'rings' (above and below) took on different colours, varying by battalion, and further by grenadier, tirailleur, or musketeer company status. These latter details have been posted previously, and should be accessible via the search facility.

In case a picture is still worth a thousand words, and you can read a bit of Russian, try here for graphical representation of the post-1810 colour scheme, depicting all companies (vertical columns from left to right) in battalion sequence 1st, 3rd, and 2nd (normally depot Bn.): picture .
