Who makes 28mm Mexican figures with ponchos etc. Real mexican gunfighters?

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP03 Jan 2010 7:49 p.m. PST

Old Glory, Blue Moon, Artizan and Reviersco to name a few.

Except I think the Old Glory are more true 25mm and not 28s. And Blue Moon are on the large side. Not heroic 28s (making them 30-32) but heroic 30s (making them closer to 32-34mm.

All based on notes I've taken from various threads, not from having an actual mini in my hands to measure.

And I've never even heard that Reviersco had wild west minis. I wonder what size those really are.

I own all the figs I mentioned. They will all work together. Reviersco has Mexican Gunmen and Federal troops. Old Glory will readily work. Only Monday Knight figs are true 25mm.

I own 100's of Old West figs.

Thanks,

John

Black Scorpion do some in their Tombstone range

Also Dixon has a nice range including mounted figures and peasants.

1st Corps do the Alamo and the Mexican-American war as well as Cannon Odder out of Australia. I personally would use some plastic Perry minis if I were to do the Mex army again but not sure cause I really "HATE" plastic. Lol…

Travellera04 Jan 2010 6:49 a.m. PST

Donīt forget Brittanniaīs Across the Rio Grande 25mm range. One of their best IMHO

Grizwald04 Jan 2010 7:42 a.m. PST

Dixon's are true 25mm as well rather than 28mm. Very nice figures IMHO.

Foundry has soon good Mexicans, but mostly in the sort of Villasta/soldato sort of way, rather than gunfighters

Difficult to find, but some of the best Mexicans were done by Pass of the North Miniatures, Jeff Caruso.

Pass of the North are going to be small next to many of the other ranges, but still nice figures. Like, John, I have a mix of Mexicans from a variety of Ranges, Old Glory, Blue Moon, Cowboy Wars, Britannia, Foundry, Old Glory Shipyard, Dixon, Black Scorpion, and may be few others.

Since most western gaming is skirmish, and thus based individually, the size difference just reflects the difference in real people.

The other Mexicans that I have found useful are the ones in the PIM range in the Old Glory line, which also has a nice selection of Mexican civilians.

Yeah, those are my favorite Mexicans. The OG Pershing in Mexico line has some nice female Mexican women with guns too! I'm buying into this range ina big way this year. Superb figs!

Thanks,

John

Another whole hearted endorsement of the Old Glory Pershing in Mexico range. I've bought loads of them and think they are an excellent range.

malamute05 Jan 2010 8:25 a.m. PST

I have poncho wearing Mexicans:

boothillminiatures.co.uk

However they are aimed more at the period 1820-1850 as they are armed with flintlocks.

mashrewba16 Jan 2010 9:34 a.m. PST

What great figs -I haven't come across Boothill before -excellent stuff.

Durando11 Mar 2012 9:30 p.m. PST

Malamute where are the Ponch wearing mexicans I cannot find them..?

Henry Martini12 Mar 2012 9:17 p.m. PST

Brigade Games has nicely sculpted range. The only possible issue is that their packs appear to contain a mixture of mauser armed types best suited to the Revolution, and distinctly Old West bandit types, some with chaps and even bandana covered faces. Of course, if you play both…

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop13 Mar 2012 8:16 a.m. PST

Knuckleduster, Reaper has a nice single figure.

… & watch Gringo40's 28mm Maximilian range as it expands

Steve

…..funny enough i am researching Mexicans to cover both

my ranges ie 1861-67 ..and 1910- 20 so any wants lists on

that front willingly accepted..pondered over and hopefully

put into metal miniatures.!! ……Mexicans have been

factored in after the FFL ,
