What would a typical retinue look like at 1:20 scale for a nobleman, or down the hierarchy, a knight?

Jamesonsafari24 Dec 2009 7:09 a.m. PST

The noble, his squire a page or two and as many fighting men as he can afford to give livery and maintenance to.

All would be mounted on a nag or pony. Most would probably be archers but the exact ratio of archers to billmen would vary with who got recruited. anywhere from a 1:1 archer to billmen ratio up to a 10:1 ratio would be fine.

But at 1:20 scale a minor noble may only have one or two figures! And he would probably be more of a subcontractor/captain bringing his fighting men to join the retinue and wear the livery of his overlord.

specialist troops like handgunners, crossbowmen, pikemen and artillerists are all mercenaries hired by the greater lords.

Thanks Jamesonsafari! I have ordered "Poleaxed" with its resource books to get some ideas for pre-made armies. I also have the old Saga books which have some good information. I hope the Perry's really build out their new WotR range.
