Has anyone done Aztecs, Inca, Maya, etc for Legends of the High Seas? I am about to, but was hoping to draw on any on-line sources of what others have already done. My main challenge is setting up a crew list template for the game. |

I played around with an Aztec and Conquistador list many moons ago for LOTR which may help. Only stats rather than lists as such link Also check out the WAB lists for more ideas and background that may help |

Are you two talking about the same thing? Iceaxe, are you under the impression that the Aztecs, Maya and Incas indulged in pirate warfare on the high seas? Ralph |

I am guessing it is for small ships crews to fight against? |

I presume some of the native tribes on the Caribbean islands would be more appropriate opponents? |

I think so perhaps Caribs Arawaks and Tupi, Botocudo etc |

No Ralph, I just thought it was the right time period for a set of suitable rules using the 'warband' type of campaign, small scale skirmish. The thing that is lacking is the warband/figure stats & charts. The LOTR set may suit – I have to see if they translate as is or need some adjusting. Although I like painting them historically correct I am happy being a bit less accurate with the gaming. Another good reason for these rules. So the maroons, caribs, tupi, etc would end up there as well. And Portuguese, English 'Sea Dogs', etc, etc. |

Iceaxe, the rough bit I did should be able to be tweaked about a bit, you could incorporate quite readily the LOTHS fairly easily, armour being really the only difference and some of the peculiar native weapons perhaps |

. I'm sorry, I thought you meant Legends of the High Seas. You have the right time period, (or are a little early). It would be difficult to fabricate, say, Inca canoe rules when they didn't fight from the water. The Mayans did, as indicated from a few paintings and the Aztecs did during La Noche Triste and the final Siege of Tenochtitlan. As Karl states, it might be better to consider conflicts like the Brazilwood Wars between the French and the Portuguese and their native Allies. Ralph |
