You can find a preview of Critical Mass Games' Protolene Marrok Battlesuit on Dropship Horizon: link It's big and it's BAD!!!! Cheers Mark |

I think it looks pretty good, but a lot like a GW Epic Warhound. That may be a good thing for folks looking for a big titan. I think I like the smaller suit better than the big one, but that will likely not prevent me from getting some! :) I do disagre with you Mark, It's not quite "as sexy as Angelina Jolie in a silver wetsuit!" When you start comparing resin minis to beautiful women, it's a strong indicator you need to step back from the gaming table for a little while. Happy Holidays, Jeff |

lol @ "as sexy as Angelina Jolie in a silver wetsuit!" That looks really nice :) I agree on it looking like an Epic Warhound though, bt I do take that as a good thing! |

I second Jeff's comment about the Angelina Jolie reference, but I propose we put it to the test by getting her and the mini in the same room so we can inspect them in person. On the suit, I think it looks great. Sure, there's overtones of Warhound to it, but it fits with the Protolene image pretty darn well. |

i don't want to see the robot doggie in a wetsuit of any colour what i would like to know is, how tall is the battlesuit in mm? |
| Lampyridae | 23 Dec 2009 4:02 p.m. PST |
Looks to be 60-70mm tall, going from the size of the battlesuit, a little small for a 15mm Warhound. |

It's a little on the cartoony side for me. The smaller suits next to it is fabulous and I'm excited about that. The big one- I just can't get past the MechaScoobyDoobyDoo head. I'll stick with the heavier MechWarrior Wolf Clan Mechs for mecha with these guys. Nice try though! |

Love the smaller suit, but as everyone else has said they need to work on the larger mechs head. |

The small one I like, the large one I don't, too toylike or something. It needs more realistic greeblies and bits. |

The small one is quite tasty but, frankly, I'd rather do Angelina Jolie. The large one has the same lifeless, static pose most of CMG's minis suffer from. I think the lack of detail works because it looks sleek and 'advanced' but that head is a failure of epic proportions. |

Yup, too static at the moment. If it's a posable kit that's cool but the head needs a re-think. Smaller gun barrels too, maybe strip down the legs some. |

The joints are articulated, so you can build the Marrok posed as you like. |

Agree with what seems to be the majority here ATM, this one's a bit of miss, especially after the smaller suits. Wouldn't care for more greeblies tho, but neither do I find myself particularly tickled by the "Wh40k Titan made by space doggies" wibe this gives me. For tickling, Angelina Jolie in a silver wetsuit is another thing entirely of course. |

The big one is right out for me. Too much of a look alike for my tastes. What bugs me the most about the smaller ones is the feet. They look totally out of style for the rest of the walker, though I'm not thrilled with the style there too. In addition to the above mentioned concerns, the walkers don't seem to have anything asthetically in common with the doggies that are building them except for the fact that the big one resembles a dog, but this makes little sense. I haven't noticed a single human vehicle in any culture that has a human face. Anyhow, a miss for me here too. Let's hope that CMG goes with whatever gut feeling they had on the human walkers when considering future alien releases. -Eli |

@emu – while I respect your opinion, I think you're off on the concept of no human faces. Look through the line of Batletech models, or tons of other mecha based games and settings. Looking into history for scifi-ish references doesn't make any sense. You also have to consider that maybe the protolene know how human's react to predatory appearances. For psychological reasons, they may have decided that making their machines in their own image gives them a leg up over less predatory species? Honestly I don't get the whole "your scifi design doesn't look like anything realistic" argument. I understand some people prefer more functional looking material for their games and models but otherwise the comparison is typically just a gigantic fail. |

yeah grabula, i agree that it does not need to look realistic. i don't dislike this for that reason. i dislike it because it is just dumb-looking, all realism aside. it is bad, but not in the way dropship horizon means it. lol |
