This 'teaser' is out….

I like the little 'rings' that come out of the rocket… thumbs up

Too early to tell… There is not much there…
BUT this could be good for the new War Rocket game. Give it some interest!

That's pretty cool. Makes me want to watch the Duck Dodgers loony toons episodes.

richarDISNEY23 Dec 2009 9:32 a.m. PST

The ship looks really cool…

Cool!

Chris Palmer23 Dec 2009 10:11 a.m. PST

Is it going to be an online series, or a TV series?

Sargonarhes23 Dec 2009 10:14 a.m. PST

Retro style? Wasn't expecting that.

Syrinx023 Dec 2009 10:48 a.m. PST

Interesting. I like the look.

Space Monkey23 Dec 2009 10:52 a.m. PST

FX style looks good… hopefully the actors won't be from the same stable of bland underwear models Siphy hires out of.

Stern Rake Studio23 Dec 2009 11:38 a.m. PST

The nose art caught my eye. Glad to see political correctness gets shoved out of the airlock in the 25th-and-a-Half Century! :)

you have the war rocket game coming at some point, same style of ships etc…

WarWizard23 Dec 2009 11:48 a.m. PST

Now that's waht a rocket ship should look like.

Top Gun Ace23 Dec 2009 11:57 a.m. PST

Didn't realize they were doing a remake, so thanks for sharing the video footage.

They got the idea from the shock rings from the Me-163B Rocket Fighter. The only successful rocket fighter in existence.

BigLee23 Dec 2009 12:56 p.m. PST

News to me as well… looking forward to this. I liked the TV series even if it was hammy.

The Gray Ghost23 Dec 2009 2:10 p.m. PST

Cool, but is this the one being done by Frank Miller? could be dicey as to whether it will be good or not.

Farstar23 Dec 2009 3:04 p.m. PST

Retro style? Wasn't expecting that.

Based on what I heard about the RPG that TSR attempted some 15 years ago, retro isn't really surprising.

MahanMan23 Dec 2009 3:15 p.m. PST

I like it. Bring on the rocket guns and the umbro-shield!

aercdr23 Dec 2009 3:41 p.m. PST

I love it. Can't wait.

Top Gun Ace23 Dec 2009 11:50 p.m. PST

I know this one isn't out yet, but the sequel should be Buck Rodgers vs. Barbarella (with Megan Fox, or Angelina Jolie as Barb)…..

Thieses24 Dec 2009 6:50 a.m. PST

Love the look. I hope the writing matches the feel.

Sargonarhes24 Dec 2009 10:12 a.m. PST

@Farstar
Well TSR wanted to keep that feel I guess, but you'd think people today would want a newer more modern look to Buck Rogers like what the TV series in to late 70's tried, I'm sure it was cool back then but I shudder at the thought of it now. Making it look retro kind of gives it that campy used look and style.

BTW I've been looking for more on this, is this going to be a movie or web show? Because all I can find of this suggests it's going to be a web show.

As well I should say, I have a Denny's rocket cup here. I'm getting the urge to make something of it now.

Not at all. TSR commissioned and accepted artwork for a very modern look. The family estate that holds the Buck Rodgers IP then told them "spaceships are supposed to have fins" and would accept no argument. All the art and some of the other material was redone to conform to the licensor's retro expectations.

As such, it is no surprise that another licensee has "chosen" the retro look. They may not have had a choice.

the evil morlab24 Dec 2009 10:57 a.m. PST

buck rodgers? is that supposed to be different from buck rogers?

Farstar24 Dec 2009 11:52 a.m. PST

Mmm? Ah, yeh, thought that 'd' looked out of place.

Space Monkey24 Dec 2009 12:08 p.m. PST

I'm not sure why you'd do a Buck Rogers show and not make it retro… unless you just wanna rape the name recognition for some quick profits… otherwise, all the value in that franchise comes from the cool designs and and capturing that era of sci fi adventure.
If you want something modern then create it from scratch.

It is, according to the info on YouTube, a web series:

I've liked these guys' Star Trek episodes so far. While they had him handy, they got Gil Gerard to play an admiral for one of the newer episodes.

Sargonarhes24 Dec 2009 3:43 p.m. PST

A web series is probably the best medium for this. While I don't mind the retro look of it, I can't see the general public liking it. I mean I know people that think Spielberg's War of the World was better then the 1953 version which they hate. So I'm in for this, but where does one go to see this on the web? When it's ready nexxt year of course.

As for the spellng. I've seen it as Rogers and Rodgers. Spell it either way gets you the same search results.

It's also still a lot different from the original character from the "Armageddon 2419 A.D." book that would be known as Buck Rogers. I've read that book a long time ago.

(Leftee)24 Dec 2009 11:36 p.m. PST

Always good stories in the 30's version. That and Erin Gray and you have a winner!

The Shadow25 Dec 2009 10:04 p.m. PST

>>As for the spellng. I've seen it as Rogers and Rodgers. Spell it either way gets you the same search results.<<

Buck Rodgers is incorrect. It's Buck Rogers and has been since the strip began in 1929.

Sargonarhes26 Dec 2009 8:38 a.m. PST

Yeah, I figured it was. Spell in Rodgers and you get the same search results but corrects it as Rogers. Just forgot to add that.

Top Gun Ace26 Dec 2009 10:40 a.m. PST

I suspect the spelling issue has arisen, due to Duck Dodgers……

flooglestreet26 Dec 2009 12:43 p.m. PST

I LIKE the retro look. I just hope they realise that retro doesn't equal stupid or contrived camp.
