Posted on my blog here: nycjadie.wordpress.com In short, I accumulated nearly all of the terrain items for my winter board for less than $50 USD at Michael's (marked down 60% plus an additional 15% with coupon). I understand that this could go down to 85% with a coupon after Christmas. These are for the Roger's Rangers Battle on Snowshoe miniatures Cavalcade is producing. The first pack should be released next month. Steve Cavalcade Wargames cavalcadewargames.com nycjadie.wordpress.com |

Another excellent post! May I suggest you consider baking soda instead of very fine glitter for your winter layout? As someone who is recovering from a holiday project involving glitter, I can advise against inviting the shiny crud into your home. Of course, if you're cultivating that "tweenage vampire heartthrob" look

I got a set of the Lemax beech/sycamore trees a couple years ago, added foliage, painted the bases green and dipped them in Woodland Scenics flock, and had summer trees. The stream looks like it will make a very good winter stream. I hadn't thought about using it, since my toys stay inside where it is warm during the winter, and don't go campaigning in the snow. This stuff is all well and fine but . . . If you buy woodland scenics armatures on sale (trunk and branches -- no foliage) and a container of the snow, you end up with more stuff, better quality and looks better. Sprinkle the snow liberally and sweep it up and put it back in the container after the game. Will last for a very long time. One container does a 6x8 table very nicely. I would point out I use this for 15mm gaming. mjc |

Is that a Frenchie in the picture? I have two, lovable things but they don't like the cold. He doesn't look very happy about all the snow in the kitchen. As to snow--a guy at work cut up a bunch of plexiglass one afternoon. The resulting "sawdust" was passable for snow. It was little too chunky for 15's but would look okay for 25-30's. Nice deal on the stuff though, wish I would have seen it locally. |
