Just posted a few pics of the first of my Neapolitans on my blog. Not a subject I know a huge amount about, so if anyone spots any glaring errors please let me know. That being said, it is more of an excuse to paint up some Victrix French with bicornes than anything else. One thing really isn't clear to me though. I had always thought that Neapolitan pompoms followed the French company pattern, but then I came across this picture: link I am now more than a little confused, any help appreciated. Anyway, hope you like them: link |

Chris, reading through your blog entry, I would suggest 20mm frontage. Cheers Emil (Karvina – Czech Republic) |

Nice Figures, I have no problem mounting Victrix at 13mm frontage (3 on a 40x20mm base) slightly staggered, 15 mm would be a piece of cake. John |

Don't listen to yahoos such as myself who might think to correct you by saying that Neapolitans refer to people from Naples while Napoleonics refers to the period. Or at least, listen so you can laugh at them. Fortunately I read the blog entry before I posted so I haven't made too much of a fool of myself. |

Nice stuff, well done! I also just received the 1804-1807 French Victrix set and was wondering what to do with them, Neapolitans are a nice idea. |

FWIW: I have the Osprey book on Italians and its not a really a great deal of help on the early Neapolitans. It mentions the Neapolitans were pretty much formed from scratch in 1806 and in the 1806-1808 period all equipment and uniforms sounds like they were French 'army surplus' and specifically mentions pretty much 'anything goes'. There are a couple of plates with uniforms in green as they were transitioning to white in 1806. |
