I thought it might be useful to post some photos of these to address the concerns expressed on other threads about the fit of the riders to the horses…

I don't want to put anyone off; the riders in particular are very nice.

Hi Mike!

Except for the startling mould lines. That's a surprise, in this day and age, from experienced figure producers.

Simon, thanks for the review. I do not believe the mould lines can easily be sorted with a bit more attention when they cast the figures up, not a huge issue however I purchased some Republican Roman cavalry recently and they did not fit horses, need mane trimming and cloaks, now from above review I see these need surgery and saddles building to make them sit properly, why when others for example Perry, Aventine to list but two can get it right cannot other designers, is it laziness, after all you would not make a car that would not fit together, we would not buy other products that needed such work, so why do figure designers and producers not give the same amount of attention to detail, if I did not pay attention at work all sorts of serious consequences could happen, surely we can expect the same from these "full" time companies. Not supposed to be a rant but reads like one, more an observation.
Happy Christmas, Mark.

I suspect I got the same ones, Mark. I was not delighted.

The riders do look nice. I'm wondering whether I can use Foundry horses for them. I had such high hopes after the quality of the pikemen.

Informative as usual. Thanks. Look forward to the heavy brigade next year along with the generals.

What has struck me so far about Polemarch's infantry is the variation in heads with some whose helmets appear to be jammed onto their heads. This is quite noticeable against some just painted Essex Romans ('imitation' legionaries, let's call them Roman exiles) for Mithridates. Some of Polemarch's true imitation legionaries faces are 'pinched' by comparison.

Enjoy the festive season and all that snow – hopefully we will have a cool break on the 25th with some rain. Makes a change from 35 and baking.

Cheers

Hi, they do sit well on the Foundry horses, but again the legs are somewhat broader than the saddlecloth. It's do-able, though. I usually pin the rider to the horse; a greenstuff pad might be as easy or easier.

Cheers, Simon
