I just built my 15mm version of this, it is a dessert planet building.

link

I saw those neat Ainsty Adobe buildings (pictured with the Stormtroopers and Star Wars figures on their web site)was screwing around with ideas, and saw this in a book on archiatexture my sister had laying around.

VERY cool! Like it was designed to inspire gamers!

As I was in a Colonial Sudan building phase, my version is a bit more primitive, and dirty, with exposed brick, those wooden pegs sticking out of the walls (that support the roof, what are they called?)etc.

A Sahadeen Temple? An outpost?

So, where in the building is Einstein's brain kept? :)

Dan
BTW, I love that. Did you take photos of yours?

Smokey Roan22 Dec 2009 7:22 a.m. PST

I thought you would, buddy!

:)

And, thanks for getting me "in" to 15mm :)

I will take photos manana

Dan, Einstein is still alive, remember? TMP link

Never underestimate German alchemy and Egyptian xeno-math!

A laboratory for xeno-experiments

Plus, an observation tower to direct artillery into the enemy sector

Kind of dual purpose

Smokey Roan22 Dec 2009 7:44 a.m. PST

LOL! That was kinda the purpose of the real building, wasn't it?

They needed a shaggy, disheveled thatched roof on the dome, I think.

Doon, the hard-fought sugar coated dessert planet.
Albert, son of Duke Onestone, the prophecised Kumquat Haagendasz fighting his enemies to their bitter end on the sugar wastes of Doon and reveals the secret of the giant pretzels of Doon.

That would certainly make a great Tau apartment or something like that in 40K.

Looks like a sub's conning tower area as it surfaces.

Mendelsohn was a master of "organic" looking architecture. Me did most of his work in brick, so imagine the same sort of curves! Some of his urban buildings, such as offices and stores would look great in 1950's-esque pulp games.

Smokey Roan22 Dec 2009 8:35 a.m. PST

I will check out more of hisd work. I love "Organic" arhitecture.

I don't think that's modeled on Einstein's brain…

Hitman22 Dec 2009 11:47 a.m. PST

I would love to go to a "dessert" planet…all of my favourite foods in one place…Mmmmmmm!!! Now a "desert" planet would be fairly dry place, and some desserts just wouldn't last!!

;^)

Smokey, where's the pics of the one you built?

Smokey Roan22 Dec 2009 5:37 p.m. PST

I need to load them. Took some today, also with the 46 Adobe Sudan buildings I have cranked out this week. :)

in 15mm, you can just crank out buildings.

Will post soon.
