Sam M's game Blücher. Basically, anyone have any detailed information on this that's not on the website? I'm especially interested in the basing system for this.. I had read somewhere that basing will be the same across the games but.. I can't see that working.. yet.. Cheers, TW. |

I have a great deal of information on it. (Cuz I'm writing it!) But I ain't tellin yet. As for the basing, though: Yes. Whatever bases you use for Lasalle will work fine for Blücher. That's one of the fundamental points of the Honour series. |

Basing will be the same. There are several long threads in the Honour forum about it. Main difference is that one stand=one battalion (or the equivalent thereof) versus 4-6 in Lasalle. It sounds like Sam is investigating the use of multi-unit 'combats' to resolve assaults instead of rolling for each stand. Sounds kind of like the 'wave' concept from Legacy of Glory. Beyond that you'll have to troll the forums and ask questions there. It sounds like development is still in the early stage, so things are likely subject to change. |

There is some interesting info from Sam on this TMP link. It is enough to convince me to purchase when it's available. TMP link |

Hmm.. yeah I have a bunch of 6mm figures painted and based perfectly for Lassale, however only one stand has a flag etc
and really the individual bases (at this point companies) aren't going to look like Battalions as they are.. to me anyway.. Hence why I can't see it = ( TW. |

"Hence why I can't see it = (" That's fair enough. But I figure that if I can suspend disbelief far enough to pretend 24 men are a battalion, then I can suspend it far enough to make believe 6 men are one. |

I'm not aware of any grand-tac game that *doesn't* require that suspension of disbelief. That's simply a requirement to play at that scale & size, if you want to do Waterloo on one table, in one day. Grand Armée & Volley and Bayonet ask you to imagine one big square is a whole brigade. Nap's Battles and Age of Eagles ask you to imagine that four infantry figures is a battalion. That level of "stretch" just comes with the grand-tactical perspective. |

Will units based for Grande Armee work for Blucher? |

Yeah it's not so much the abstraction in terms of figure numbers, it's the actual size of my individual bases. They, to me, don't look like battalions (each having 12 figs) where as the way my entire Battalion is set up with four stands (48 figs per Battalion) that looks ok.. so, if I were to have each 12 man element as a Battalion I would have a wider base, with a couple of officers out front.. etc etc you know that kind of thing.. but then that then wouldn't work for Lassale would it lol.. I might need to base two seperate armies, which is what Sam was trying to avoid! TW. |
