I thought that would get your attention.

Following sage advice from this forum, I'm adding a floozy (or artiste from the Corps d' Ballet, if you prefer) to the staff of my French SYW army.

The figure purchased is of a charming Young Person, riding a horse side-saddle & swathed in a cloak.

Any suggestions as to what colour I should paint the cloak?

The little Minx should be wearing just that… a minx.

any pic?

which figure is it?

The cloak will most certainly belong to one of the officers. So I suggest dark blue, perhaps with some gold lining ?

You have stolen my thunder, Porthos

Unless, of course, it was a cavalry officer's cloak – in which case, red with white fur trim

Painted ladies?

Why dark blue and not white, or red? She COULD be with a Royal regiment – or a Dragoon regiment now couldn't she? Perhaps with the Swiss Guards?

Raducci…let us say "Artiste". It sounds professional.

Back to your request.

I am amazed that you would ask this forum questions requiring a modicum of fashion sense (titter). Is there not a member of the fair sex who could give you better advice?

Pose the question, "If you were Madame de Pompadour, what colours would you favour for your wardrobe? …in particular a gala event outdoors?

Cheers,
Robert

Is she red-haired? If so she should be swathed in hunter green.

The figure in question was given to me by a gaming buddy when I was talking about providing a retinue for my French general.
The figure is charmant and full of espieglerie.
A modicum of dress and a thin line of petticoat is also visible under the cloak. I plan to paint her as a blonde.
@ Robert.
And I thought this forum was the Last Word on practically everything.

<<If you were Madame de Pompadour, what colours would you favour for your wardrobe?>>

Why, Pompadour Red, of course. As worn as a facing colour by regiments of the Austrian and British armies.

Firmly hoping for a pic or three!

Blue would be fitting for a blonde, but doesn't have to be *that* dark: 'Bleu de Roy' darkened significantly during the 18th C. from picture ultimately to the 'Bleu National' of the Revolution.
Now, sentinels' cloaks were of the same main color as the coat, with buttonhole lacing &c.. of the facinng color.

If your gaming friend who gave remember her manufacturer / references, would you please post them? Other, I'm sure, would be interested in such a "charmant and full of espieglerie" mini as a potentail addition their 'HQ' vignette!!
