<just adding the latest details below to the event page, curtesy of the SFSFw> Club SFSFW Title Sherlock Holmes and the Flying Steam ship Scale 28mm Table size 6x6 Sherlock Holmes and the Flying steam ship is a Victorian Science Fiction game set in the last years of the 19th centuryWhat if the Martians had invaded or the Victorians had invented Flying Steamships or Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson and the League of Extraordinary Gentleman actually existed. In this game a hostile Continental power has sent a force of elite troops backed by fiendish machines to wipe out the Torchwood Institute thus putting Queen Victoria, GREAT Britain and the Empire at risk. The game is Participation game with the umpire controlling the forces of evil and the players taking the role of one of the various extraordinary gentlemen and ladies who are fighting off the enemy. Please come and have a go "Target
them clockwork soldiers
ten rounds independent
FIRE". On the CSM order, the marines opened fire but to no effect. The bullets bounced off the metal casing of the clockwork soldiers that kept approaching their position. Suddenly, Quartermain's elephant gun boomed and one of the clockwork soldiers staggered and fell in clouds of scalding steam. However, the others kept coming and as one, sent a volley of electricity and flame at the marines. The wall protected them from the worst effects but two marines were writhing and screaming on the floor. Dr Watson immediately dashed to the nearest and began to tend him. Holmes yelled at the CSM, "Not the mechanical soldiers
the man with the box by the castle, he's controlling them" The CSM was the units best marksmen. One round felled the controller and two more shattered the box. Holmes leapt the wall and jabbed his stick between the legs of the nearest mechanical man that toppled to the ground and lay there face down with its legs still moving. "FIRST SECTION
the gentleman has shown you what to do
CHARGE!" Whilst the first section dealt with the mechanical men Holmes rejoined Watson. He was gently closing the eyes of one of the fallen marines. The other also lay still and silent. A shake of the head to the CSM confirmed that the two marines were beyond help. There was a grim expression on Watsons face that was new to Holmes and his friend had taken one of the dead marines rifles. "Excuse me Holmes old chap. Could you go through these poor fellows pouches and bring me their ammunition clips. I have some unfinished business here with the cowardly swine who created these inhuman weapons" . |

Goose666 | 24 May 2010 4:23 a.m. PST |
Is this the one you mean?; link |
sector51 | 25 May 2010 2:56 a.m. PST |
Yes thats the one. My suggestions are in for the WAB event, so its just a question of making a decision and people can start entering. The first WAB2 tourny in the UK? |
Goose666 | 28 May 2010 4:50 a.m. PST |
I have pointed Colin, the WAB organiser, toward your queries on the forum. Hopefully he will answer them shortly, if not, prior to me posting this..lol |
Mike Target | 02 Jun 2010 5:20 a.m. PST |

Goose666 | 03 Jun 2010 5:01 a.m. PST |
Mike your most welcome. Infact, please prod some of the RGMB members if you could and remind them we have both FOW, WAB and WHFB tournaments running this year. Last year we had an entrepid party all the way over from Bangor for the WHFB. UPDATE: The WHFB tournament is now Saturday and latest rules pdf can be downloaded from the website.
The WAB tournament is now Sunday and the latest rules pdf for that can now be downloaded off the website. The Booking deadline for all competitions is now the 20 June. Which is only 17 days away. So if you wish to be certain of a place, then please book and get your army lists in asap. I have update the event website: link |
Mike Target | 03 Jun 2010 6:35 a.m. PST |
No problem, think we had something about it on our website IIRC. Ive got a bunch of WAB armies that are still untried due to lack of an opponent (rgmb seems to be split almost entirely between FOW, 40k and warmachine) but Ill mention it to the other FOW players too. If ancients is played much by the defnders I might have to get over one club night too. Edit: wrong period for my WAB..but I might have a look at the FOW. |
Goose666 | 08 Jun 2010 9:17 a.m. PST |

Update, due to unforseen circumstances, the space hulk participation game I was due to run, has had to be changed to a game of 28mm WW2 using Rules of Engagement by Great Escape games. I will try and get the details up for the game shortly and any other updates on the website. In the meantime, table etc are apparently ordered now and preperations in full swing. Looking foward to seeing people there. |
Richard Baber | 26 Jun 2010 7:02 a.m. PST |
Only a week to go :-) All my figures and kit is packed and the hand-outs and event-cards are being printed as I type this
. Really looking forward to another great weekend. I strongly urge anyone from the Midlands area or North Wales who are not venturing down to Dorset for Bovington to pop over and give the lads your support. SOTCW members (and anyone else) are welcome to take the plunge into the wonderful world of the Rif War at out participation game. |
Goose666 | 27 Jun 2010 8:48 a.m. PST |
Thanks Richard. Looking forward to seeing the Societies game. Will has been scrounging the club members supplies of polystyrene in preperation. I think the World Cup and proximity of other tournament date wise, has meant Colin has had to cancel the WHAB and WHFB tournaments alas. Otherwise everything is full steam ahead. I have just updated the event webpage; link |
Goose666 | 27 Jul 2010 7:05 a.m. PST |
