Okay folks, this comes right from Lock n Load and I just sent off the final read on the rules.

Last Days for Cheap ATZ!

Zombie update! We hope to have the game before Christmas. We are sorry it has taken so long. Anyway, increases in the cost of printing have forced us to raise the final retail price to $59.99. Hence, these are the last days for the cheap $39.99, pre-order price.

I refuse to even consider your news, unless they are accompanied by a picture of the THW Girl…

XRaysVision04 Dec 2009 6:26 p.m. PST

Thanks for the heads up. Done.

Waiting impatiently for my copy!

Looks neat. I couldn't find a discussion thread on the forum in the site linked. What kind of map board does the game come with? Are they poster maps or something more substantial? The battle report looks like posters with plexiglass laid over them is why I'm asking.

What kind of map board does the game come with?

The ones you saw were mock ups with plexi-glass overlaid as you mentioned.
I don't know for sure what they will be as Lock and Load is handling that end,

The LNL website says that the maps are mounted:

My non gamer son has suddenly expressed an interest in reading about Zombies. This will make an interesting xmas surprise gift.

coopman – Thanks!

Deeman05 Dec 2009 11:13 a.m. PST

Yeah I saw the LNL website bold type mounted in the description. Maybe I'm not versed enough in board game lingo to know exactly what that means, so it seems vague to me. I fired off an email to LNL asking for clarification. I really like the looks of this game and want to preorder it, but I don't want a poster map to play on.

"Mounted" in boardgame vernacular menas that it is a thick cardboard board as opposed to a thin paper board. In other words, the thin paper has been "mounted" on cardboard.

coopman05 Dec 2009 9:14 p.m. PST

"Mounted" maps are similar to the old Avalon Hill games – maps with a stiff cardboard backing.

Ed,

Do you know how many players the game is set up to handle out of the box? Basically, how many player characters does it come with? I've never seen any information on that and wondered how many it would support for a big game. I know I can likely just add my own, but be nice to know what's in the base game set.

Thanks,

Jeff

Ed,
What are the shipping costs like for one copy to Canada?

Syrinx006 Dec 2009 8:13 p.m. PST

My shipping in the USA was estimated at 11.95 which included a small handling fee. I assume the label of estimate is due to an uncertainty about the games weight.

Ed,
will anyone be carrying his at the next origins? I sure want to buy a copy but I'm put off by shipping rates (and the high failure rates of Italian mail to deliver)

Some answers.

Basically, how many player characters does it come with?

At least six.

What are the shipping costs like for one copy to Canada?

As the game isn't in Mark's possession he cannot weigh it. he said it would be the actual cost based on weight. Sorry nothing more definite.

Will anyone be carrying his at the next origins?

I will try to have some out there and the word was that Mark was planning non being there.

Syrinx026 Jan 2010 9:35 p.m. PST

I know it was a pre=order and things happen but I have to say I'm disappointed in the estimates for delivery. Not only did the game miss shipping in December it won't even make January. Are we likely to get it in Feb?

Daniel27 Jan 2010 2:17 p.m. PST

"Are we likely to get it in Feb?"

Absolutely! Not saying WHICH February…

Syrinx027 Jan 2010 10:15 p.m. PST

Heh. God I hope not. I can't compete in the PS3 Nazi Zombie game. I need a low tech game to even the playing field.
