But when?

A shipment of 2000 Baker rifles arrived in the Spring of 1810 and were issued later that Summer. Other than the small number of rifles gleaned from the disbanded Loyal Lusitanian Legion, this would appear to be the sole disbursement for the duration of the War. Chartrand suggests that the senior Cacadores battalions had a slightly larger issue (approx. 200) than those raised later (150 max.).

I've always read that 1/3rd of each battalion on average was rifle armed.

I thought it was one company of each battalion?

From the sources I have, a Cacadores battalion consisted of 4 companies of Cacadores and 1 company of Tiradores (often called 'elite' Cacadores). Most wargamers believe the rifles were fielded by the Tiradores, but this wasn't the case – the rifles were given to the best shots, not the best company.

Maybe so, but it is more convenient in a game to give them to one group of figures.

Surely it would be easier and more accurate then to give a slight bonus to all stands?
