I saw the godzillas, kongs, etc.. I was digging through the images and I may have missed if they have a gamera picture yet?

I've played it a few times and no, they do not have a Gamera figure. Too bad, he would be great! Especially if he was on the opposing team from Godzilla.

Nothing quite like Gamera so far. The current set of factions is unlikely to produce one, either, though I suppose the Subterran Uprising might. Given Gamera's background, we'll need a "good guys from space" faction of some sort, which could always be in the third faction group. The next set is, IIRC, the licensed set for Voltron. After that, we'll see.

Hrothgar: I'm guessing Michael Jackson won't be in that group, eh? wink

Yeah, I could see Tritons. Wasn't thinking "Sea Turtle", but it's not a bad fit.

There were rumors buzzing like biplanes around a giant simian that a certain "Voltron, Defender of the Universe" was going to be part of one of their Combiner/Gestalt figures.

I'm pretty sure that never materialized, and I've had a hard time finding any of the old rumblings that got posted on the MonPoc site. Anyone have the scoop on whatever happened to this?

Farstar23 Nov 2009 2:19 p.m. PST

They announced a license for Voltron earlier this year, to be done as a whole set. I hadn't heard that this had changed.

Edit: The MonPoc forum is having some discussions even now, and Privateer hasn't stepped in to say it isn't happening. Current rumor puts it as a two-player Starter with the five lion Voltron and a similar five animal combiner that Prince Lotor rolled with on one occasion. Whether the license goes beyond this or not is so far unaddressed. The Voltron set is due early 2010.

Classic Big Guys in this case, so far, includes Godzilla, Mecha-Godzilla, Rodan, King Kong, Ultraman, Power Rangers (sort of), Cthulhu, Martian saucers and tripods, and some lesser lights.

We have good faction set up for Mothra (a giant bug faction for which we have a fly monster and mantis monster so far), and decent set up for Gamera (undersea faction; with a kraken and anglerfish so far). So far no good match for Gidorah (who would be hard to generify, anyway).
