I searched on TMP and could not find review. I really like WoW WWI and was looking at pick up the WWII version. Your thoughts and insights please. |

I haven't played the WWII version myself, but I have read reviews that indicate it doesn't play as smoothly. WWI planes were pretty slow and although they had different maximimum speeds and different relative speeds, they all had slow in common. Because WWII planes were much faster and had a greater range of speeds, WWII WoW allows players to set their speeds at fast or slow. Each maneuver card has two versions of the maneuver – a long one for fast, and a short one for slow. This was the main complaint I've heard about – when you start juggling the speeds, it messes with the way the game plays. OTOH, my brother-in-law and his 10 y.o. played the WWI version with me and liked it so much, I got them the WWII games as a thank you for putting us up for an extended vacation. They love it and play it all the time. Maybe it depends on your experience with gaming (it was their first wargame), your expectations of how a game models reality (not important to them), or something else entirely. If I want a quick fun game, I play the Blue Sky series, WoW or another equally simple, easy game. If I want something more intense, I play CY6! If I want something more in the way of flight modeling, I play Air Force or one of the Fighting Wings series. |
