Just isn't possible. TMP has been assimilated into the HMGS Collective.

You have to realize that the structure of the TMP message forum thread logic absolutely prevents derailment of the discussion as intended by the originator of the message.

EVERY thread will eventually be sabotaged by someone with either an agenda or who just likes to be an Bleeped text. Because the structure of the board _encourages_ that behavior.

Which is financially good for the board owner, because more traffic justifies higher advertising fees.

I didnt know Heavy Machine Guns had a collective.

How cool.

Do you have to own one to join or can anyone chip in?

As for the rest it was all too conspiracy theory for me… Dont read the threads or you will get assimilated.

But if all threads get derailed for others agenda then why dont you stop posting new threads?

Just a thought like… Unless you too have an agenda, in which case you have derailed your own thread so whose to blame now!

Dear PaintsByNumbers,

After further review and me being enlightened by more information, it is I who must apologize to you.

I apologize for my ignorance and hasty ill conceived comments to you sir.

Happy Veterans Day.

Yeah right.

And automobiles causes people to drive at excessive speeds.

And alcohol forces them to drink to excess and act like an idiot.

Or that the internet makes someone say things they wouldn't think of saying face to face because they can hide behind their screen.

Big P I think HMGS stands for Her Majesty's Guano Service.

The advertising fees here are the same as they've always been.

Yes Bill, but we could certainly do with one less member.

Especially when he is being such a 'member' at the moment.

Paul Hurst11 Nov 2009 3:11 p.m. PST

My 'shoot-from-the-hip" grandad would say "he's such a Newark" – I was 11 when I figured it out.

Streitax11 Nov 2009 4:11 p.m. PST

WOW, someone needs to get a life. This all reminds me of the saying about academic squabbles 'They are so vicious because the stakes are so small.' First you complain about another organization, then you complain because the world of TMP did not rise up in indignation and demand the head of somebody most of us have never met, nor will ever meet. Your conclusion that we are all HMGS drones overlooks the alternative that we really don't care what those folks do and that you are simply being tiresome and disagreeable. Now that you've posted your distaste for both organizations can we assume you will be moving off in an appropriately indignant huff? One can only hope.

I like Apple Pie with Sharp Cheese and a Cup of Coffee.

Captain Apathy11 Nov 2009 4:37 p.m. PST

… and some people no mater how much information is put in front of them will look for conspiracy to help justify their existence.

Yes, I know this comment is aimed at me (among others).

Could it also be possible that TMP is too open in allowing anyone with an axe to grind and a loose grip on reality to post damn near anything they want?

Some people take this Bleeped text (i.e. the wargaming hobby) way too seriously.

"Some people take this Bleeped text (i.e. the wargaming hobby) way too seriously."

I agree, but I suspect I have a different set of people in mind. grin

Bless your heart.

"always the devils advocate and never the bride."

Good thing, too. Many wedding nights are traumatic.

"Bless your heart."

Now that's the spirit!

I'm impressed they've assimilated me, all the way over here. To think that HMGS is the most important thing on TMP, let alone the hobby, anywhere, you'd need a fairly blinkered view. Hypothetically speaking.

Steve Hazuka12 Nov 2009 6:16 a.m. PST

can you make them in 15mm please……

Streitax12 Nov 2009 6:42 a.m. PST

Yes, but would anyone buy them?

Jamesonsafari12 Nov 2009 7:13 a.m. PST

I'd like them in 6mm multi-part plastic.

With zombies.

…..
And automobiles cause people to drive at excessive speeds.

*NJH: Ford built a mind control device in my Mustang, and every now and then it takes over and forces me to go fast. Not even three layers of foil can stop the mind rays.

And alcohol forces them to drink to excess and act like an idiot.

*NJH: I don't drink alcohol, but I can act like an idiot anyway – just ask my wife.

Or that the internet makes someone say things they wouldn't think of saying face to face because they can hide behind their screen.

*NJH: If it were face to face, hopefully people would be smart enough to be out of arm's reach. Sadly, on the internet there is no primal device for enforcing manners. However, in person even the biggest strongest lout can have his tires deflated and his car "keyed" in the parking lot.

… and some people no mater how much information is put in front of them will look for conspiracy to help justify their existence.

*NJH: Ummmnnn, why would you say that???? The only logical answer is that you must be part of some secret cabal with some cunning plan to do something sinister. Now that I've justified my existence, I'm going to have some Dutch Apple pie with loads of whipped cream. ;-)

DJCoaltrain12 Nov 2009 7:04 p.m. PST

Captain Apathy 11 Nov 2009 3:39 p.m. PST

….. a loose grip on reality ….

*NJH: I paint little soldiers and then I play with them. That just isn't indicative of a particularly tight grip on reality. I have tried to grow up and be mature, but our hobby is just too compelling.
