Always worth a visit – I love the way they hang real planes from the ceiling, like so many of us did with Airfix kits as youngsters

Those are terrific pictures, particularly the close-ups of weathering effects. One rivet-counting quibble: I'm pretty sure that that's the tail of a B-29. I don't see a B-52 in any of the photos. One of my friends worked on those SR-71s at Mildenhall! |

Yep, there is a B-29, and the B-52 dominates the USA hall. – Not forgetting the unopend can of McEwens lager in one of the charge bins of the Chiefy in the Land Warfare hall! Tally Ho! |

Jeff – the black bit across the top left of the pic is the B52 tail. The whole hall is built around the B52 which dominates it. |

The B52 is stunning, it is so
..big. Yes, Duxford is an outstanding day out, and warrants regular re-visits. |

.hence my FoD card :) Actually the one thing that got me about the B52 was it was smaller than I had expected when getting to it, but the B29 was bigger. Expectations can surprise you

The cheftain in the land warfare hall is my brothers old mount, we went there a coupla years ago, unsuspecting, and when we saw it he said, 'wow, haven't seen one of those for a while, hang about, it is mine!' it was actually quite a brother moment! he showed me the cut-off oil can with duck tape around the top for 'number twoses!' he said it was named 'general bastard' when he had it, but that had been painted out, you can see where it used to be on the side front of the turret. great stuff, great day out.
