Hi gang,

While looking for 6mm(a bit smaller than z scale i think)
scenery tutorials, i found this nice site:

zscalebuildings.com/default.aspx

and asked Tammy, who is running this site for some
advice.
Amongst other things she passed this site:
(be ready! This is not for the faint of heart, if
you've ever tried to build 6mm trees…)

The actual tutorial starts on page 3.

Amazing stuff :)

p.s: in case you wonder why it's in the WW2 discussion
section, i plan to build some scenery for my incoming
6mm WinterWar project with this tutorial…

very nice but worth the effort?

donlowry07 Nov 2009 11:08 a.m. PST

Outstanding stuff! Thanks for the links!

That's beautiful stuff. Though probably hot hearty enough to survive long on a wargame table. Not with the sausage fingered lot I play with. :-)

Good looking stuff, she doesn't give them away does she? :)

Well…ummm….sort of really nice and stuff. But errr…what's he gunna be like if we wargamers sort of…errrrr…kind of blow them up! huh?

PP should have some troops seated with helmets in their African Wars range…

springsnow08 Nov 2009 3:55 p.m. PST

No, that's not what i said :)
Let's do this again…
Well yes, the "is it worth the effort" part depends on
how much time and money it's going to take and how durable
the trees will be once put on a gaming table…
Anyway, i can't pass the chance to learn how to build such
wonders, if i ever get close to that^^ and painting/
building things is part of my wargamer hobby.

OMG. Here I was, thinking that some of the Woodland Scenics trees look pretty good, especially those from their "Realistic Trees" line.

But this… it's a work of art!

Okay, those are way good trees! best I've seen at this – or possibly any – scale.

amazing….(I like the fact that there is a female modeller out there who this obsessive)

The trees were fantastic, but I didn't understand the tutorial. Seemed rather vague.

Obviously English is not her native language. Dutch, is she? But I don't have the patience to put that much into mere trees, anyway. I don't even work that hard on my minis!

aaarghh imagine how bad all the rest of my terrain will look if I put just 1 of those on the board….I just have to try and forget what I have just seen…..

Wow. Those trees looked so good I thought the examples were real trees for a minute.

That's a little too much work for background decorations… You shouldn't put more time into a single tree than you do into a single mini!
