Just wondering if it would be feasible to field archers in a 1750'ish Mughal army. Would it be not too unhistorical to use Vendel ancient Indian longbowmen? link Thanks |

Beautiful figures for the Gupta period and somewhat later. I am also confronted with a simialar problem, but in 15mm. From my research, you could use the same figure but change the turban to what is common of the period and shorten the bow; one problem is the quiver with longer arrow shafts. The dhoti was pulled up to improve running. For 15mm, I had thought about using Andalusians, which have knee length trousers and a hip length tunic. Turban is about right and the bow, javelin and shield are fine for tribal levies. An alternative to consider are perhaps Berbers or Numidians with a turban added. Do not overlook the Sikh irregular types of the mid-19th century period and Arab mercenaries, both foot and mounted. These would make a nice addition to your Moghul army. Eagle Miniatures and/or Redoubt do an archer figure for that period in 28mm. |

Magister Militum has the Chariot Miniatures, History of India figures. These include the correct 15mm bowmen timur is looking for. You could try Redoubt or Falcon UK (if Kia Weaver is about) for the 25/28 mm Mughal bowmen. Redoubt figures run tall 28+ mm. Oggie |

If *I* were doing a c.18th Moghul army in 15mm (and I have), I would look at: link In 28mm, rather than Vendel, it would be Bear's Den, which are also shown off quite nicely here, along with the Foundry India range: gdws.co.uk/mughal_india.htm Allen |
