I seem to recall there is a company that produces a 12 man team of Russian Spetznaz in Afghanistan that are based on a pretty grim movie. For the life of me I can't find a link. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You are looking for the '10th Company' minis at the bottom of the Soviet list.

Those were the minis I was looking for. Thanks Monkeyborg. : )

My pleasure.

Just so you know, they're airborne (VDV)
of course spetsnaz look just like any other troops and the 10th co are suitably "independent"looking

Very very nice minis =)

SOV 03 SUMMER DRESS- AFGHANISTAN 1 are also quite fitting =)

Uh oh, now you did it! Allen will be here any minute to correct you… "Spetsnaz is a contraction and any spelling onther than Spetsnaz is not acceptable at all!"

I'm painting mine up at the moment for a game in December. There is a lot of good character figures in there. Some of the best sculpts to have come out of Mongrel. I also bought the summer dress Soviets to go with. Its good to have the film to watch for inspiration.

Sundance took care of it. My work here is done.

Anyone know the name of the movie the minis were inspired from?

Sundance06 Nov 2009 8:37 p.m. PST

I made the same mistake! It's amazing the response one little spelling error garners!

The Mongrel list gives a hint: it's "9 Rota" (9th Company), by Sergei Bondarchuk's son Fyodor. Should be required viewing.

It's also called the 9th legion sometimes.

Apparently there is a video game about the 9th Company as well.
