This might actually be a good topic if we could get it started.

A good uniform guide is the Ulster/Freikorps booklet by Dave Allsop and Anthony Canavan listed in the references here:

Not sure if it's still available. QRF picked up the excellent Freikorps 15mm figure range, but I don't… oh, yes, there it is!

I highly recommend it.

I think the Mexican uniforms of the Maximillian period are rather cool looking.

I have a few of the old Freikorps 15 Maximilian War figures. The late Dave Allsop did an excellent job in sculpting them, and I highly recommend purchasing them. As for the uniforms, this particular website was rescued from the GeoCities shutdown, but so far the illustrations have yet to show up. Maybe contacting the webmaster may help speed the progress?:

It is an interesting little "sideshow" of a war, but one whose influence can still be felt.

The great thing about Mexican uniforms is the liberty you have in painting them – all the way from plain cotton duck to uniforms that would make Murat shy

This is a useful site for lots of info on uniforms and potential figures for the poeriod (I have used this site alot when building up my huge 28mm French IN Mexico colection):

Tim Peterson has done an excellent job!

I would recommend this book as a good starting position too….

I also think the Osprey book is a good overview of the subject.

Is there a list of color plates for this conflict online?

thanks
