Does anyone make substitute chain or power swords that are size suitable for 40k figures? Thanks for any input! |
Brandlin | 03 Nov 2009 6:55 p.m. PST |
i'd substitute them for rifles and carbines. But thats because i'm about the only person on the planet that thinks that close combat weapons like chain and power swords are just fecking stupid. on a more helpful note
check out some of the weaponry available at hasslefree miniatures link |

couldnt you just use regular swords painted a different color? Not sure what to do about the chain swords. There is a bits shop on EBAY called hoard o bits that sells differnt bits. |

Warzone used to have a blister pack of weapons. Included in that was a Ripper Sword (aka Chain Sword). Prince August may have some. |

I have to agree with Brandlin
They are just Frakk'n stupid compared to a good ranged weapon. |

Well, ignoring Legion 4's singularly unhelpful answer, I can't think of any. Power swords could be simply ordinary swords painted in bright colors (or use a piece of brass rod – or even perspex rod – for a lightsabre style weapon). As for chainswords, it's pretty much only 40K and the occasional unimaginative ripoff that use them. You could check on Ebay or the various "bitz" sellers for Assault Space Marine arms in bulk. |

Are you looking for an alternate source for Chain/powerswords, or do you not like the GW weapons? If you need some GW bitz I may be able to help you out, If you need an alternate variety, you won't find many other companies making chain and power swords. |

Hey Bass. I love th GW chainswords, just having trouble finding them w/out a hand attached! |

Sorry
I thought replacing swords with pistols or carbines as Brandlin suggested was a good idea

Let me have a look around and see what I can find. I'll let you know tomorrow. In the end you may just have to remove the hand. I've done this before, and it's not usually too difficult. |

I checked around and didn't come up with much. However, some of the Space marine and Chaos marine chainswords have a gap between the knuckles and the guard, so they would be easier to remove from the hand. Also, the cadian guard sprue has a chainsword on a modest sized human hand so that might help. GW used to make a close combat sprue of weapons that were not attached to hands, but I think it's oop now. The other three options should be readily available at bitz dealers around the net or by trading here or at Bartertown. I've had good luck trading for specific bits over at BT. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. |

If its "handless" weapons you're looking for, try finding an old Necromunda weapons pack. Along with the metal guns, it contained a plastic sprue that had a "handless" chain sword, power sword, and power axe. link [See Sprue in Bottom Left Corner of Image Below] picture |

Yep, those would do nicely! |

@Brandlin – I want to thank you being nice enough to share your opinion but also to contribute something positive toward the topic. Too often, people chime in on topics with comments that are no help and really just a sad attempt for them to force their one-sided, bullying opinions on people who are coming to the community with legit requests for help from the knowledge base here. Thank you, -Eli |

I agree with Brandin about them. Unless there was a technological reason why people stopped using ranged weapons to go back to them. And then I'd think axes would be more useful. |
