Here's an after-action report for a recent Burma refight, based on an action during the larger Battle of Meiktila in 1945. A mixed column of infantry and light artillery from 17th Indian Division, Shermans from 254th Indian Tank Brigade and recce elements from the Indian 16th Light Cavalry, move to strike against a battalion of the Japanese 49th Division.

Played in 15mm, using 'Battlefront: WW2' by Fire & Fury Games.

That's very kind of you, though a lot of the stuff is looking pretty rough at the moment. Since playing the game I've actually painted three Burma-specific Indian Shermans which would have looked very nice on the table.

It's especially a shame about the bright orange embankments! I should have removed them for the photos. Martin had only just made them out of clay and hadn't had a chance to paint and texture them before the game.

I might add that in the actual battle in 1945, the 9th Borders suffered only four KIA, compared to over 100 recovered Japanese KIA… I've got a lot to learn, methinks! ;o)

Very nice game.

Very much my own current pet project and your scenario(s) are those intended to be played.

I forgot about the embankments for the villages thought!

Thanks Kevan,

I hasten to add though, that the Wetlet scenario is Mark Hayes' work.

I don't know if you've seen them, but I've just posted up two new 'Burma' scenarios (one of them actually took place in India, but you know what I mean)…

'John Fuller's Stand' – 152 (Indian) Para at Point 7378, 1944

'Cox's Corner' – 5th Gold Coast Regiment in the Kaladan 1944

There's also a new scenario covering the Japanese airborne assault on Palembang in 1942.

There's a lot more to follow. The next one will be 'Hill 170' – 3rd Commando Brigade in the Arakan 1945.

Mark
