A situation I bet alot of us have run into. You discover a line of figures. Something you hadn't seen before. 14 nice sculpts representing ___ unit of ____ army each carrying a ____. You only really need 10 of them, yet it's only 4 more figs, why not own the whole set? So do you buy the 10 you need, or the whole set? I'm curious about this because when it comes to wargaming I'm pretty much a cheapskate so you would think I would be immune to this. However being a tightwad only makes it easier when I find a cool but cheap line of figs to justify buying the entire set, even though I know I don't need them. |

I'm not a cheap-skate, but I still try to buy only what I need. There's no point spending good money on figures I have no intention to paint. What's more, I might be keepins some other poor junkie who actually needs those figures from getting them. So put my vote down for "I buy what I need, nothing more." The definition of "what I need" can get a little blurry, of though! |

Alot of me has not encountered tis situation. I buys what I needs. >>> The definition of "what I need" can get a little blurry, of though! That, however, is an awful truth. Allen |

I'm not lured into buy more figures than I need just because of the figures in the line. But I'm a complusive completist when it comes to which figures I "need" based on the army list. I have to buy all possible options or permutations of a force, no matter how unlikely their use might be. I figure I'm "saving" money by buying everything in one go by not having to pay for shipping twice. Of course the cost of extra figures I buy (& don't use) far outstrips the cost that I'd incur by buying them in smaller batches. |

If I can afford it, I will often buy them but . . . recently I had the opportunity to do just this . . . for . . . about $15.00 USD a figure (25mm). I could afford to do this but you have to draw the line somewhere so I passed on that great opportunity. Now if I can pick em up for say $8.00 USD a fig I just might. mjc |

I buy them all. I'm addicted. It's a sickness. But if only four remain for the set to be complete, I'm almost certainly gonna buy them. . . . I need help. . . . |

I buy what I need. If I don't have any need for a guy with a toothbrush and the latrine he comes with, I dont buy em. |

I'm trying to teach my 3 year old the difference between "need" and "want". And not be a total hypocrite while doing so. :D Parenting is hard. |

I bought all of the Foundry Landsknecht Orcs who were later called Mercenary Ogres. I only did this because they were $2 USD per blister at a flea market sale. It was fun, sifitng through to get one of each. Most of them saw action in a Stargate Orks' Drift game. I got more later when a local ganer dumoped them. Considering I spent qt most $30m I don't feel I was out of line. When I was a stamp collector, my ambition was to get at least ONE stamp on every page of the Liberty US album. I almost succeeded, but my of a roommate skipped out to join a fraternity and stuckl me with the rent. I sold them for rent money, got nothing near what they were worth, and haven't looked at stamps since. I do have a nice Citaition album untouched since 1971

No. I buy what I need for a particular project (in general). |

I'm one or two figures away from having the entire Foundry Darkest Africa line. The reason I don't have them all is because Foundry switched from 8 to 6 man packs years ago
I do feel a need to acquire them all even though many might never be used. I should be honest, I rarely play anymore anyway, so I guess I'm more of a collector. I thought I had the entire line of Brigade's "Victorian Age" gangers
now I see they tacked a few more on and I will probably get them- even though I know I'm probably not going to use them. |

I buy whatever I need to make a unit. However, mostly that means all of the figures at least once. |

Interesting perspectives. Many of you seem to have far more self control than I. I wonder if the cure is to buy less or simply play a more open ended game that let's me play with whatever miniatures I have. For those concerned about the grammar of my title, "gotta get'em all" is a commonly used reference to the insatiable collector urge of pokemon players. |

For those concerned about the grammar of my title, "gotta get'em all" is a commonly used reference to the insatiable collector urge of pokemon players. Ah, you must mean me. I was picking up on the terrible collision of 'do you' and 'gotta' as it goes. |

On some lines. I have bought almost all of the Brood types for Dark Age and I'm getting most of the LoTR line. Just like the mini's. |
