Since I got such quick and helpful answers on my first question, a follow-up: I've been told there's some noticable size differences between some Battlefront and Old Glory vehicles (I think I was told the discrepancy is worst on stuff like halftracks). Is it noticeably bad for something like the German Sdkfz 222 armored cars? If OG made the 223 with the bedspring radio aerials it wouldn't be a problem and I'd just go with smaller minis, but if I buy OG for the 'rank and file' and have BF command 223s is the size difference going to look absurd on the tabletop? If so, can anyone recommend a manufacturer of Sdkfz 223s in line with the size of the Old Glory models? Thanks in advance! EDIT TO ADD: I'm still talking about 15mm, forgot to make that clear |

I've got a mix of the US Scout Cars (both Battlefront and Old Glory). I find the OG shorter and out of proportion, also less detailed than the BF examples. When I compare them to a 1/48th scale Tamiya kit, I find the BF seem more accurate in proportion and detail. |

Hmm, ok, that's what I was worried about. I guess I might have to spend the extra cash on getting BF armored cars then. At least the savings from the other OG stuff should cushion the blow a little. Thanks for the info! |

However, Quality Castings' M3 White Scout Cars (since those were brought up) are outstanding: good size in comparison to BF's, and very well detailed. Within a unit (Daimlers, Staghounds, etc.,) I tend to go with one manufacturer. So I have a company of Old Glory Staghounds, and one of Battlefront (although they're darned close). Staghound AAs are from QC, which also size well with either OG or BF; they just need the machinegins replaced. Daimlers likewise: one from OG, one from BF. I use German ACs as little as possible, so it's no great problem (and buying individually, actually better) just to go with BF. Allen |
